The ceremony is about to begin: The Doors by Oliver Stone selected to screen at Cannes Classics

the%20doors_0.jpg
I am thrilled and looking forward to seeing the Doors by Oliver Stone on a big screen again. Than you Cannes Classics, thank you Thierry Fremaux... I had had so much fun working on the french release for Sony Pictures. This, above, was our special poster designed for France. It was  inspired the fantastic teaser trailer, I found the trailer so powerful that I asked Publicis, our ad agency, to work on a poster focused on the final scene where Jim is about to disolve in bright light: The c...

40th Manaki Brothers Cinematographers International FilmFestival

September 14 to 21 September in Bitola, Macedonia

Now accepting submissions for the 40th edition of ICFF “Manaki Brothers”

The International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “MANAKI BROTHERS”, is the first and oldest international film festival dedicated to the creativity of cinematographers across the world. It started in 1979 at the initiative of one of the main founders-AFPM/the Association of Film Professionals of Macedonia (which also marks its 65 jubilee this year), and was co-organized with the host-city of Bitola and the Cinematheque of Macedonia, established in honor and inspired by the abundant photographic/cinematographic opus of the MANAKI brothers: Yanaki (1878-1954) and Milton (1880-1964), whose 135 birth anniversary is to be celebrated this year as well. Thus, naturally, the cornerstones of the future festival were laid, in the town at the foot of Pelister, the City of Consuls - Bitola, where the Manaki brothers had their photo-studio and cinema theater.

Tarpan, Review: Pride and prejudice To draw even minimal audiences, films like Tarpan need three boosters: positive reviews, film festivals exposure and word-of-mouth publicity. They pick up dark subjects, rooted in current ground reality, write them for the screen in the realistic mode, stick as far as possible to factual references as against a fictional narrative, cast unknown or at least relatively unknown actors who would nevertheless deliver, retain a technical team that can put-togethe...

Avengers, Endgame: Thanostradamus As star casts go, Avengers: Endgame runs up a mind-boggling score. Like in theatrical performances, where all characters come on to the stage after the performance to take a bow, Endgame brings them all on screen, even resurrecting the dead, in a show of ultimate strength, before their nemesis is vanquished. Just as it takes two lives to conquer the dark force, the dark force itself needs to be conquered not once but twice. It is ingenious writing, to lay out...

Hey Cannes, here's the screenplay Nice is talking about

LustBanner.gif
LUST FOR CONTROVERSY, written by Richard Spencer, America’s top celebrity editor, is currently featured in the 2019 Nice Film Market (it won Best Unproduced Screenplay). It’s the epic true story of French artist Gustave Courbet, who was called the most arrogant man in France, and, if he were alive today, would be insulted that a movie hasn’t already been made about him! Hear him counting at least five films for Van Gogh and about half a dozen for Coco ...

THE MYSTERY OF A BURYAT LAMA», directed by Elena Demidova

The documentary film «THE MYSTERY OF A BURYAT LAMA», directed by Elena Demidova, tells a story of one of the most famous lamas, Pandido Khambo Lama Dashi Dorzho Itigelov. His body is recognized as one of the sacred Buddhist objects of Russia and is being kept in the Ivolginsky Datsan. The Buddhist monks approach him as a living person.

Itigelov was born in 1852 and began his religious education at the age of sixteen years. In 1911, he was appointed the twelfth Pandido Khambo Lama as the Head of Russian Buryat Buddhists. Between 1913 and 1917, Itigelov was prominent in the spiritual life of Russian Empire. He took part in the Tercentenary celebrations of the House Romanov and opened first Buddhist temple in St. Petersburg. During First World War Itigelov presided over the society of "Buryat brothers", an organization helping the Russian army. After October Revolution, Itigelov resigned as head of the Buddhists. In 1927, aged seventy-five years, he asked other lamas to begin meditation ceremonies and funeral rites, since he said he was about to die. Itigelov left a testament asking to be buried as he was at the time of his death, sitting in lotus posture. On September 11, 2002, Itigelov's body was eventually exhumed in the presence of the leaders of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia and transferred to Ivolginsky Datsan.

THE CREEPY LINE a film by M.A.Taylor 2018

"A film that Google does not want you to see  - filmfestivals.com Best for Fest"

An eye-opening documentary, The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle – hence powerful – manner in which they do it.

The Creepy Line is a title culled from the words of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, when during a 2010 interview he explained Google’s code of conduct: “The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.”

However, as Dr. Robert Epstein explains in the film, “Google crosses the creepy line every day”.

Offering first-hand accounts, scientific experiments and detailed analysis, The Creepy Line examines what is at risk when these two tech titans have free reign to utilize the public’s most private and personal data to manipulate society.

There is no question that the “creepy line” is getting ever-creepier, and that the tech giants have crossed it.
