![]() Reykjavík International Film FestivalThe Reykjavík International Film Festival has grown rapidly over the years and RIFF is now called one of the most interesting festivals in Europe, to quote foreign, notable media. It is not big compared to festivals around the world but it's program is interesting, unique and fun. This year we will emphasize upcoming directors in the film making industry but RIFF has found a lot of upcoming stars from that area. As ever, the main prize of RIFF will be given the title The Discovery of the year and awarded with the Golden Puffin. We have a few categories of movies at the festival, last year they were called Open seas which is a category of masterpieces from the most skilled movie makers from all around the worl. In Documentaries in focus we show interesting documentaries from today's world. World.changes is a new category, Horizon's aim is to mirror the world today at each place, each time and Icelandic Panorama includes the movies that build bridges between icelandic filmmaking and the world around. A new category was introduced last year, Sound on Sight which covers movies about music and music in movies. This category caused great interest and therefore RIFF threw a Sound on Sight- market. There, producers of music and sound-connected movies in making introduce them to distributers in that area. This year a Nordic Sound on Sight market will be held at RIFF. |
