As an independent film festival and convention, we are committed to presenting only the best in independent horror feature and short films from around the world. That fact alone has made the Phoenix FearCON Film Festival one of the most popular film festivals in Arizona. We expect a record turnout this year and are hoping to be able to break records as well as introduce the horror fans to some fantastic new films not yet released.

This event is a horror film festival and convention. This is our  5th year doing this event and for the first time since our inception, in October of 2012, we will be hosted at the Ultra Star Cinemas in Scottsdale, over a busy weekend in the heart of a busy, bustling city. This street is nestled in the center of  the Indian Bend Pavilions at Talking Stick in Scottsdale at Pima and Indian Bend Roads.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX FEARCON

Phoenix FearCON V Independent Horror Film Festival is a community driven event focused on the Independent horror film maker, and the obstacles they face trying to get their film projects noticed. In addition, we make our event interactive so that there is not just film screenings. We invite Charity Organizations to partner with us and help raise awareness and provide information.  We make our event interactive, not only in the screening of many micro budget films, but we offer entertainment and interactive activities for attendees.  We consider our event a "Film Festival with a Convention Attitude".

This year, our partner charities are Shanti's 2nd Chances, St Mary's Food Bank, KidTIX and Children's Hospital. Many of our Artists and Vendors donate one of a kind and collectible items to our silent auction.  All the proceeds of these silent auctions benefit the charities we support each year.

In addition, we invite local performers and local celebrities for performances and meet/greets with their fans.  Our volunteer staff work tirelessly and without compensation to make sure the FearCON is the best event visited by our guests and film makers.

Jim and Chris of Trash City Entertainment founded and finance this event purely out of pocket. We love to get involved with our community, love Horror films and know what it's like for a film maker to try to get their film project noticed by any film distributor.  Our partnership with Empress Road pictures provides a significant exposure to our film makers and gives them that opportunity to be seen and possibly discovered by a legitimate film company.

The FearCON has grown exponentially over the years, and our fans are very loyal and devoted.  One of our dear fans created the trailer video located on our site (and being screened at the Ultra Star Cinemas) and we appreciate his talent and generosity.

FearCON V is making itself more accessible to a larger audience and, therefore,  more valuable to our beneficiary charities.  Our intention is to get the word out to the thousands of fans that still have not heard of the FearCON and its ties to the Art and Film Community.

ABOUT FRED WILLIAMSON

Fred ‘The Hammer’ Williamson was an three-time AFL All-Star with the Oakland Raiders and appeared in Super Bowl I, but turned to Hollywood after his retirement from the game. His roles include Black Caesar, the original Italian Inglorious Bastards, William Lustig’s Vigilante and Larry Cohen’s Original Gangstas, alongside Pam Grier, Jim Brown and Richard Roundtree. But horror fans probably know him best as Vietnam vet turned trucker, Frost, in Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn.

ABOUT TIFFANY SHEPIS
--
Born in New York, Tiffany got her start with Troma, playing Peter in Tromeo and Juliet. One of the genre’s busiest actresses (the IMDB gives her 30+ credited roles since 2010), we remember her from The Hazing, Nightmare Man, Nympha, The Violent Kind, Night of the Demons and The Prometheus Project

FearCON is Arizona's largest independent horror event - feeding the fear since 2006
Taking place in November, it's a mashup of a independent horror film festival, mixed in with sideline entertainment, celebrity guests signing autographs and taking pics with fans, panel discussions with film makers, film distribution companies, flashmobs, Department of Zombie Defense military exercises, Caskets and Hearses on display, workshops with Special FX artists, Zombie choreographers, Zombie Runway Fashion shows, live musical entertainers, freak show artists, vendors of every kind of horror themed item on the planet.

The Phoenix FearCON has announced that FearCON is partnering with two of the largest Haunted Attractions in Arizona: The Fear Farm and 13th Floor Haunted House
What this means is that on the last weekend in October - Starting on October 31st through November 2nd 2014, the grounds where Fear Farm is located (99th Avenue & McDowell), will be home to the largest haunted event/festival/convention/film festival ever.

This year we have two new events premiering:
The Ms FearCON Beauty Pageant - sponsored by Beautiful Monstrosity Magazine
The Monster Soccer Championships - sponsored by Advision Media

FearCON originally started out in 2006 as the Phoenix Fear Film Festival, showcasing local and international independent horror films from a small art gallery. We have since grown to a large theater and have been a vanguard event, dedicated to strengthening the general understanding of the Horror genre film culture by providing audiences independent, cutting‐edge, original films - and authentic representations of Horror.

Through time the festival has evolved to include a wider variety of horror genres for audiences to enjoy, all of which portray a different aspect of terror along with an atmosphere dedicated to the horror movie fan, including special musical presentations, special effects demonstrations, panel discussions, Q&A with cast and crew, fashion shows and more. To reflect these changes and highlight the festival’s evolution, the name of the festival has been changed to “Phoenix FearCON”

The 2014 Phoenix FearCON VI Film Festival will provide a significant opportunity for audiences to come and see what independent Horror is all about from different perspectives and reflect.
Cinema is a bridge that connects us all. The committee members and volunteers have a passion and energy dedicated to this event. Although the festival is still young, it is supported by its members with
unlimited potential. We hope to continue this event, not only for 2014, but for the coming years as well.

We hope to uncover new talent in the Horror film industry through this festival, and to develop and grow together.
