Tales of Babylon

London-born and bred writer director Pelayo de Lario brings a new and fresh outlook on cinema and how stories should be told to fit an ever-changing audience, whose habits have become more fast-paced and hectic. Initially having trained as an actor, Pelayo developed an interest in directing when working in plays such as The Crucible and Macbeth at Queen Mary University and as a member of the New Youth Film Academy. He merged that passion for telling stories with the love of the film medium, in which he dabbled during his time at school. Pelayo co-wrote and directed "Jack", his debut feature film, over 11 days during the first covid lockdown, abiding by strict safety measures. "Jack" has since become an awarded film, recognised by its fresh and witty humour and fast-paced and energetic approach to storytelling, bringing a rhythm and pace more aligned with today’s audiences. Pelayo has this year taken the much larger task of writing and directing "Tales of Babylon", an epic action thriller narrating the lives of four different hitmen, a kid and a mobster boss and their intertwining tales of violence and redemption.
