The film is the third installment in a series that has recorded the same subjects at ages 7 and 14, and now turns its focus on what it is like to be 21 in America today. The film provides a provocative case study of the impact of race and class have on these young peoples' sense of themselves and their prospects for the future. The film was produced by Granada Media and will be shown on US cable network The Discovery Channel later this year. June 19th, 2008 — Anonymous "Provocative case study"??. I wouldn't say that. The director is very careful never to let out anything which could resemble a judgement. There is hardly any comment. Things speak for themselves: this series is a shocking depiction of the fact that most american people are conviced of having equal opportunities, while in fact they don't. Though I do love a good "Doc" now and again. LOL, ACTUALLY AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE! So, I reviewed/LOVED the brief description of "21 UP AMERICA," set the channel timer and finished all my housework in time to sit and watch comfortably. TO MY UTTER DISGUST "DISCOVERY TIMES CHANNEL" HAS ONCE AGAIN (AND I DO MEAN AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN) MADE A PROGRAMMING ERROR OF SOME SORT. VERY COMMON HERE IN NORTHERN NJ, IN THE FORT LEE AREA. UNACCEPTABLE! ANYWAY, I PAY NICE MONEY TO TIME WARNER CABLE, FOR ALL OF THE DISCOVERY CHANNELS. THEY HAVE INCREDIBLE PROGRAMMING BUT THE FREQUENCY OF ERRORS IS BECOMING ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. DISCOVERY TIMES CHANNEL WAS SUPPOSED TO AIR "21 UP AMERICA" TWICE TONIGHT, 11/19/17 FIRST FROM 9 PM TO 11 PM AGAIN FROM 12-MIDNIGHT TO 2 AM. I NOTICE THE FIRST SHOWING WAS SOME KGB SHOW, A MISTAKE OF COURSE AND FIGURED THEY WOULD FIX THE ERROR FOR THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING. NOPE, I FIGURED AND HOPED WRONG. DAMN TOO, CAUSE I REALLY WANTED TO SEE THIS DOC*! AS YOU'LL MAY HAVE NOTICE I'M A BIT ANGRY TO SAY THE LEAST (ESPECIALLY CAUSE THIS CONTINUES) I BET YOU WOULD BE TOO. THOUGH, WITH ALL THIS TYPING I HAVE RELAXED AND FOR THAT I AM GREATFUL, I DONT WANT A MIGRAIN, LOL. I HAVE LEARNED (IN THIS FORUM) THAT THEIR IS 2 OTHER PARTS TO THIS DOCUMENTARY.
