Phil Liggett The Voice of CyclingDocumentary created by Nickolas Bird, Eleanor Sharpe, the filmmakers behind MAMIL (Middle Aged Men In Lycra) written by Eleanor Sharpe. Australia April 2021 1h 54 The life of legendary television commentator Phil Liggett MBE is inextricably entwined with the history of professional cycling. During a career that has spanned five decades, 15 Olympic games and 47 Tours de France, Phil Liggett has been there for every key moment in cycling over the last half century. The heroic triumphs, the appalling tragedies, the scandals and the controversies; Phil has seen it all, and told us about it with passion, knowledge and his trademark wit. As much as anyone, Phil Liggett has shaped the way the world sees cycling. Website I Twitter I Facebook I Instagram I Profile on filmfestivals.com I Stills I Trailer The Tour de France 2021 in full gear: Phil Liggett is busy covering his 48th tour de FranceMUSIC, MAESTROS! The Tour knows how to compose and adapt, and proved it once again with such joy. The adverse winds never troubled the race and its team mates are always ready to offer shelter. Once the postponement of the 2022 Grand Départ in Copenhagen was made official, Brittany stepped forward, led out by the Conseil Général and the backing of Brest, carried by the impulse of the authorities of the four departments and local communities. Chapeau and thank you! The richness that the roads of Finistère, Côtes-d’Armor, Morbihan and Ille-et-Vilaine have to offer, day after day, including a double climb up Mûr-de-Bretagne highlight of the journey through Brittany, will immediately create momentum. "Chapeau Brittany!" It will then be alternating short and tense stages with long and demanding ones in their final parts, before the race reaches the footstep of an exciting Alpine diptych. The riders will then take on the harsh Signal d’Uchon, at the heart of the Saône-etLoire area. Between short respites, the Ventoux will twice be on the menu with two different climbs from two sides. And the Pyrenees will offer five episodes, including two highs, at the Portet on the 14th of July, and then Luz Ardiden. But the mountain verdict could be seriously corrected by the return of two rather flat individual time-trials, the second one coming on the eve of the Champs-Élysées. The Tour has always known how to compose. It’s now up to the orchestra of riders and its distinguished soloists to make the best of this new partition to offer a spectacular concerto. Congrats to Legendary commentator Phil Liggett, covering his 48th Tour de France this month!
