Hong Kong Films @Cannes 2024
Hong Kong Trade Development Council, with the support of Create HK & the Hong Kong Film Development Council jointly organize the first-ever “Hong Kong Films@Cannes 2024”, a mutual events program.
Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Film Development Council and Create Hong Kong will be present on the Hong Kong Pavilion at International Village 117 and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council on the Hong Kong Pavilion at Riviera J11.
During the upcoming Cannes fortnight, Hong Kong will spotlight the vivid side of new various productions of Hong Kong cinema, recently boosted by local hits from new talents, introducing the opportunities of collaboration between Asian and Hong Kong filmmakers.
2024 marks a great year for the presence of Hong Kong in Cannes with two major productions on the screens of the Palais des festivals in Official selection.
Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In by director Soi Cheang will be presented on a Midnight Screening. As a major Martial Arts film, it is the adaptation of the manhua City of Darkness by Andy Seto. And finally at Cannes Classics, Shanghai Blues by Tsui Hark (1984), will be presented with the exceptional presence of Sylvia Chang, star of the film (restored copy of the film on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Film Workshop).
A series of screenings will take place on the Market. The films presented will be Time still turns the pages by Nick Cheuk, The Wonder, Peg O’ My heart by Nick Cheuk, Fly me to the moon by Sasha Chuk, An abandoned team, Love lies by Ho Miu-Kei, We are family by Benny Lau, Vital sign by Goo-Bi GC, Fight for tomorrow by Chan Tai-lee.
