ANIMAZE & FILMFESTIVALS.COM PRESENTING 2ND EDITION OF ANIMATION DAY IN CANNES TO OVER 250,000 PROFESSIONALS & MEDIA

On May 18th for the second consecutive year, animation film professionals will gather to celebrate the art of animation in Cannes during the annual film festival.

This year’s event features screenings of animated shorts and feature films, discussions and networking events in various festival locations. Animation Day in Cannes is presented by Animaze: The Montreal International Animation Film Festival and FilmFestivals.com.

Animation Day in Cannes invites all film professionals attending Cannes to join our events and benefit from exclusive opportunities to see first previews of new animation projects, promote their activities, and network with fellow experts in the field.

May 18 will include the second edition of Animaze Daze in Cannes. In anticipation of Animaze's Montreal edition August 18-21, original works of animation from over 20 countries will be screened in competition. A full list of screenings is available on

"We're absolutely thrilled to be partnering with FilmFestivals.com for a second year running at Cannes," says Animaze director Laurie Gordon. "This event will raise the profile of animation at Cannes and ultimately turn an eye toward the many exciting new developments happening in the industry across the world."

Animation Day in Cannes attendees will experience a number of panels on May 18, with topics including  Virtual Reality and immersive technologies, new funding models, writing for animation film. Panelists include Alliance Québec Animation and Carpe Diem president Marie-Claude Beauchamp, VR strategist and former ARTE France head Michel Reilhac and other luminaries from North American and European animation.

Animaze director Laurie Gordon will launch the Ryan Larkin Foundation in memory of the late Ryan Larkin, Oscar-nominated animator and subject of Chris Landreth’s Academy Award-winning 2004 short Ryan. The foundation helps animators get back on their feet after a professional hiatus, with a mentorship program for them to share their knowledge and experience with aspiring animators.
