Amazonas Film Festival
The festival is held under the patronage of Amazonas State Governor Omar Aziz and State secretary of Culture, General Director Roberio Braga. Screenings take place in the amazing Amazonas Theatre built in 1896 in the centre of amazon where the Rio Negro and Amazon meet. Visit to INPA, where Elisabeth the Sloth got a new name, IAGO given by its godfathers from the film industry
The festival organized a press visit of the (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia or INPA).
The INPA institute is a public educational and research institution in Manaus, Brazil. It was founded in 1952, with the purpose of providing a more extensive knowledge about the Brazilian Amazon Region. Most part of the research focus on the main topics of ecology, molecular ecology, zoology, botany, tropical agriculture and tropical pisciculture. A collection of Amazonian vertebrate and invertebrate taxa, and vascular plants are also found in the institute. Our visit was centered around the symbolic ceremony wherte the recently found Sloth became a new name (Iago = "loved by the humanity") by its godfathers (actor Bruno Garcia and actress Christiane Torloni attending). We were lucky to witness the feeding of the baby dolphins. ; 05.11.2012 | Amazonas Film Festival's blog Cat. : Amazon Basin Amazonas Ambiance Brazil Bruno Garcia CDATA Christiane Torloni Entertainment Entertainment Geography of Brazil Geography of South America Iago Manaus Manaus National Institute of Amazonian Research Sloth
