Female directors have been the toast of town in Toronto this week, with films that have been embraced by the industry, film critics and audiences. Although women directors still make up an anemically small percentage of the ranks of film directors everywhere around the world, their special spins on a number of high profile films here are worth noting. No film premiere generated as much excitement as the red carpet gala of JENNIFER'S BODY, a vampire comedy scribed by Oscar-winning scenarist Diabl...

Mickey Rourke in between the process of undergoing the knife almost too unrecognizable familiar face of Hollywood sex symbol of 80s had no means to conceal the damage caused to his face, but only to rise above all in rather flirty matter, with addressing the Sarajevo Press Audience. Something that you can check out on official festival site www.sff.ba
Born in New York in 1952, Rourke's teenage years were more aimed towards sports than acting. He took up self-defense training at the Bo...

With Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and many friends.
A campy music video in the style of a scopitone from the early 1960s, with the wonderful cast of 10 boys in sexy red singlets and girls in red tutus, all dancing with joy with Genesis P-Orridge in a boxing ring…all the ingredients for a slap stick boxing match in music.

Perhaps it is only a coincidence or a kind of cinematic convergence that sometimes happens at a film festival, but the boxing legend Muhammad Ali is the subject (or at least the subtext) of several of the most anticipated films showing here at the Silverdocs Documentary Film Festival.
The three-time World Heavyweight Champion and one of the most colorful sports figures of the past 50 years is the focus of FACING ALI, which recei...

As SILVERDOCS, the nation's most prominent documentary film festival, begins to hit its stride, it is worth mentioning that the documentary film has not had the charmed life at the box office as we saw earlier in the decade. While not every film can hope to reach the stratosphere of FAHRENHEIT 911 (which had a record-shattering $120 million international box office gross in 2004), the recent crop of documentaries coming to theaters ...

At the Opening Night party for Independent Film Festival Boston 2008, I asked Managing Director Brian Tamm about the festival’s selection process and whether they keep any themes in mind when filling out the schedule. His response was: “We just try to select the best films we can. You guys [the press] tell us what the themes are.”
Well, let’s see what they came up with.

It's interesting to know that a package of action-packed, 'Muay Thai' Thai boxing films are to screen at the East Udine Far East festival ( 24 April- 2 May). Among these are Ong Bak 2,the sequel to the film of the same title that pushed Tony Jaa to world-fame, as Thailand's own Jackie Chaan/Bruce Lee.This is a pure action drama, with dialogues kept to the minimum, and Jaa proves he can do anything, anywhere- on land, air, even elephant-back!
More thought-provoking, is 'Chocolate' which ...
