ANIMAZE MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL 2022 EDITIONExtended by popular demand till 18-20 November 2022. Animaze is an international film festival and conference dedicated to exploring the world of animation in all its diversity. Filmmakers from over 65 countries working in a wide range of genres and styles converge on Montreal in the summer. We engage audiences and develop new opportunities in a unique and fast growing art form. ANIMAZE presents le MIAFF! a Montreal based international animation film festival and industry conference providing a showcase for animators and animation producers to showcase and market their works including technology and anything animated in the digital landscape as a digital art or even for research purposes in the field of science. ANIMAZE is registered non-profit organization with feature animation film as its prime focus. ANIMAZE is an animation industry conference, workshops for animators, producers network, cocktail networking and ANIMAZE DAZE international co-production incentive. Montreal born artist, Steven Woloshen (BFA, MFA Studio Arts) has been passionately creating short abstract films and time-based-art installation pieces since 1977.
Steven Woloshen was born in Montreal in 1960. He entered Vanier College, an ideal enviroment to study alternative expressions with super-8 film and video. In 1980, he was admitted to Concordia University in Montreal and specialized in 16mm independant film techniques. At this present time, he has created many animated and experimental film projects and has been invited to show his work at many festivals, screenings and galleries in his country as well as, around the globe. In addition, he has lectured on the subject of the animated film and has been commissioned to create short animated pieces for other filmmakers, artists and events. In 2002, he presented to the public his first retrospective of films produced between 1982 and 2002. The Cinémathèque québécoise, in Montreal, Canada, hosted the event, Carte Blanche à Steven Woloshen. Steven Woloshen is currently living in Montreal and is a member of the Director's Guild of Canada since 1991, and the STCVQ since 1986.
He has been invited to show his work, has lectured on the subject of handmade analogue film techniques and has been commissioned to create unique films for artist - run centers, international film festivals and galleries. In 2010, he published his first book on the subject of decay, archiving and handmade filmmaking techniques, titled “Recipes for Reconstruction: The Cookbook for the Frugal Filmmaker.”
