Subtravelling : short films on the subway,

Subtravelling second international exhibition of short films on the subway, from 15 to 24 October

● The points of the festival will be the station of Universitat (L2) and the new exhibition hall Mercè Sala Diagonal (L5)

● This year will a new section open to the passengers with the mobile as a camera

After the success of last year, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is launching a new edition of Subtravelling, the second international exhibition of short films on the subway. Starting next 15 of October, the station of Universitat will become a big stage projection of the best audio-visual creations of all categories of the festival, with the installation of a huge movie screen, while hosting a debate on the distribution of short film and new platforms, among other activities.

In addition, as a novelty, those interested in this second edition of Subtravelling will also have another point of contact and participation in the metro: the Espai Mercè Sala, the new showroom TMB located in the corridor connecting the two lobbies line 5 station Diagonal. At this place, the visitors will be able to learn audio-visual techniques to become a film director, vote for the preferred micro movie and see a display of photographs and videos on the festival.

Four sections for short films

As in the previous year, the program Subtravelling is divided into sections: Microcurts, Campus and Palmarés, but this year it added a new one, consisting in a contest with a public call to shoot a micro movie of three minutes by mobile at the underground and at TMB buses. The start of this new section will be on 6 September to the 11th.

The section Microcurts is a selections of the best 15 short films of three minutes, selection of which will be borne by the organization. This year, this category is subdivided into the stories of fiction and animation, with a prize also separately for each type. Soon, in the website http://subtravellingfestival.tmb.cat those interested will find each selected microcurt together a form with their main characteristics and they will be able to vote for their favorite short, and automatically participate in a drawing for a prize.

At the category Campus will be selected short films by students of film schools and universities of Catalonia. In this section, which aims to promote the production of new talent, will be awarded a prize for the best audiovisual piece.

And finally, with the section Palmarés (out of the competition) passengers will be able to enjoy the award-winning creations of the international scene with a short selection of the most prestigious film festivals. The films come from events like the International Festival of Brussels, Circuito Off Venice, Brigadoon and Sitges, among others.
