Premier wins Zurich Fest Publicity contract

Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) co-founders Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri announce today that they have appointed London based agency Premier to handle international publicity services for the 13th Zurich Film Festival, which will take place from 28 September – 8 October, 2017.

Premier will work alongside the ZFF in-house team and senior Consultant Nikki Parker, supporting on all aspects of the Festival’s publicity but with a focus on international press.

Last year ZFF screened over 172 productions from 36 countries, including 17 World premieres and 8 European premieres.  There were over 607 press, industry and filmmaker guests, and the audience exceeded 90,500.    The programme has three strands in the Competition section: International films from first, second and third time directors; International documentaries from first, second and third directors; and Focus for Swiss, German and Austrian films and documentaries.  Alongside this are Gala Premieres, Special Screenings, New World Section, Border Lines, Window to the World, TVision and a Children Films section.

Together with Winston Baker, ZFF also hosts the Film Summit, an industry event covering finance, converging media, debates on topical issues and top level networking events over two days.

Festival Co-Directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri said “We are extremely happy to be working with Premier, a company that has over the years successfully worked on several films with us and who enjoys such an excellent reputation in the industry.”

Jonathan Rutter, Director of Film at Premier comments “We are delighted to be working with the Zurich Film Festival team.  We’ve watched the festival grow in prominence over the last few years and are very pleased to be able to collaborate with them in helping to raise their profile even higher.”

Premier is one of the leading entertainment publicity agencies in the UK.  The Film department handles UK, international, unit and red carpet publicity for a wide range of clients, from major studios through to independent and art-house distributors, production companies and sales agents.  The team regularly attend the major European film festivals, most recently launching Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or winner THE SQUARE, co-screenplay winner Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER, the Safdie Brothers’ GOOD TIMES and Todd Haynes’ WONDERSTRUCK amongst an outstanding line-up of eleven titles represented at Cannes.  Premier handled the international press for last year’s first Macao Film Festival, and for 16 years handled the publicity for the BFI London Film Festival, but chose not to participate in the tender for the LFF 2017 contract.
