Marché du Film partners with Frontières to organize a series of Industry events geared towards the genre film community.
Frontières and the Marché du Film are pleased to announce the start of a partnership focused on the organization of a series of Industry events geared towards the genre film community.
The first stage for this Frontières-Marché alliance will be at the Marché du Film 2016 in Cannes through the programming of the following events, on Sunday May 15, creating a genre film day:
For the Marché du Film 2017, the slate of programming will expand to include pitch-sessions, organize one-on-one meetings and thematic panels on the state of the Industry and the future of genre film.
The duo is also in talk with other partners to organize a Packaging and Financing Forum in Europe for next year.
The annual North American edition of Frontières will take place as usual at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal in July 2016.
Lindsay Peters, director of Frontières: “With genre cinema only continuing to grow in terms of technological innovation, insightful marketing strategies, and international box office appeal, there has never been a better moment to expand the global networking opportunities for the genre film industry, and there is no better platform than the Marché du Film in Cannes.”
Jérôme Paillard, executive director of The Marché du Film: “Since a few years, fantastic and horror films proved to be a very sustainable genre which reaches large audiences through all the channels of distribution including the new platforms. We made our first steps three years ago in Ventana Sur with Blood Window and in Cannes with the Fantastic Mixer. Joining our forces with Frontières is a very exciting new step which will support tremendously this Industry.”
More information on Frontières:
Established in 2012 at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada, the Frontières International Co-Production Market connects North America and Europe with a specific focus on genre film. With 8 editions in the past 5 years, welcoming an average of 400 industry professionals, Frontières has become an essential networking destination for industry professionals seeking to stimulate the co-production and financing of genre films. In 2014 Frontières established its European presence at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, where it has held 3 annual European editions co-organized with Vision-in-Motion and BIFFF.
The 8th edition of Frontières will take place July 21-24 in Montreal at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Project submissions for this Montreal edition will close on April 13; industry registration will open on May 9. Frontières is co-funded by the European Union – Creative Europe – Media program and is made possible thanks to the generous support of Telefilm Canada, SODEC, the filmoffice.brussels, the Federation Wallonie-Bruxelles, the Brussels Capital-Region and Wallimage.
