Galaxy Studios Announces 3-Picture Deal with Producer Mark R. Harris

FIRST FILM UNDER DEAL ANNOUNCED: ‘CUPID’ – CO-PRODUCED BY LEGENDARY FILMMAKER GARRY MARSHALL, DIRECTED AND CO-WRITTEN BY SCOTT MARSHALL. NEXT THREE MARK R. HARRIS FILMS TO EMPLOY REVOLUTIONARY AURO-3D® IMMERSIVE SOUND FORMAT.

(CANNES) May, 2015: Belgium-based, multi-faceted post-production outfit, GALAXY STUDIOS, announced that it has finalised a three-picture production agreement with film producer Mark R. Harris (CRASH, GODS AND MONSTERS, CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER WOMEN). The deal also incorporates Auro Technologies, ensuring the revolutionary immersive sound format AURO-3D® is employed across all of the upcoming three pictures.

Mark R. Harris was the original producer and developer of Academy® Award-winning MILLION DOLLAR BABY, before he and his partners, including writer/director Paul Haggis, sold it to Clint Eastwood and Warner Bros. Harris’ first film under the Galaxy/AURO-3D® deal will be CUPID, a romantic comedy scripted and co-produced by comedy legend Garry Marshall (NEW YEAR’S EVE, THE PRINCESS DIARIES, PRETTY WOMAN) and co-written and directed by Scott Marshall (BLONDE AMBITION, ALL’S FAIRE IN LOVE). CUPID will start shooting this summer.

CUPID will be the first of Harris’ films to benefit from AURO-3D®, a listening format that delivers the most natural immersive sound experience on the market. It is an exciting move from two-dimensional surround sound formats to three-dimensional sound, achieved by adding the missing and final dimension in sound ‘height’ in front of and all around the viewer. AURO-3D® is the only sound system on the market that has just one file, making it easy for distributors to achieve high-resolution audio on any system in the world. The format is currently on display at the Cannes Film Festival in an AURO-3D® theater specially constructed next to the AURO offices and lounge on the Hotel Majestic Plage.

About working with the new AURO-3D® sound format, Harris said, “As a professional storyteller, I’m always on the lookout for new storytelling tools. The AURO-3D® sound format is a breakthrough that increases the dramatic impact of the stories we are trying to tell, impacting and moving the audience on a deep level.”

Wilfried Van Baelen, Founder and CEO of Galaxy Studios and pioneer behind the AURO-3D® format added, “Mark’s projects draw audiences deep into the heart of the story, and AURO-3D® shares the very same goal: to offer audiences total immersion within the world on-screen. We’re delighted to have his endorsement, and look forward to working closely together over the coming years, exploring new depths and taking his already stellar work to ever greater levels.”
