Is Pedro Pascal Set to be One of Hollywood’s Hottest Stars Over the Next Decade?

Pedro Pascal has swiftly become one of the world’s most recognisable actors. After breaking out as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, Pascal earned main roles in several high-budget television series. Now, the Chilean and American actor is gaining greater acclaim in Hollywood and could be a major star in cinema over the next decade.

Pascal is One of the Top Properties on Television

There are few television viewers left nowadays that are unaware of Pascal, who has become one of the standout stars in the age of streaming. Recently, he took on the role of the protagonist in one of the most famous franchises in history, and his performance was met with strong critical acclaim. He also appeared in three episodes of the Star Wars spinoff series.

Pascal will gain even greater attention next year when he takes on the lead role in HBO’s The Last of Us. In the adaptation of the hugely popular and successful video game, Pascal will be starring as the hero Joel Miller. Landing a role in such a high-profile series for one of television’s greatest production companies shows how far Pascal has come in his career. Indeed, it could be argued that he has now surpassed television and is ready to take lead roles in cinema.

Game of Thrones and Narcos Boosted Pascal’s Reputation

Pascal only played a minor part in Game of Thrones across seven episodes, but he still managed to pick up a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. The legacy of the HBO fantasy epic lives on, and millions of people viewed Pascal’s turn as the Red Viper and his epic battle against The Mountain.

After Game of Thrones, Pascal played Javier Peña in Narcos. He was a main character for the first two seasons, and then became the show’s lead in the third. Like Game of Thrones, Narcos has an enduring legacy and has attracted a lot of viewers.

The Netflix series is one of the most popular ever thanks to the way it was franchised to various other forms of media. For instance, there’s the Narcos Cartel Wars app available for mobile players. There’s also the popular Narcos casino online game from NetEnt, which is a standout offering among other titles like Knight Rider and Reel Rush. The title features Pascal’s character on the reels, alongside other famous faces like Wagner Moura’s Pablo Escobar.

Pascal Could Star in Hollywood Blockbusters in the Years Ahead

There has historically been a massive gap between the worlds of television and film acting. But that seems to have shrunk in recent years as many Hollywood greats have crossed over into television and vice versa. For example, Matthew McConaughey found great success starring in True Detective, and Kevin Spacey was iconic in House of Cards. Even Harrison Ford is set to get in on the act soon.

Plenty of television actors have made the switch to Hollywood as well, with Bryan Cranston being a well-known recent example of someone who achieved that in his later years. Pascal has already had key roles in numerous blockbusters recently, with one of those coming in the DC Extended Universe.  He is likely to take on more prominent parts in the years ahead.

Pascal is a fan favourite actor who audiences can’t get enough of. It only seems like a matter of time before he’s taking on more major acting jobs in blockbuster movies.
