Five Films About Psychics You Might Not Know About

When it comes to the psychological types of movies out there, it seems like everything has to be a horror movie or a thriller. Many of the most popular psychic movies on the market fall into these categories as it seems like the easiest place to be able to portray their capabilities. But the truth is that there are plenty of ways that a psychic can fit into the movie industry and in different categories too.

If you’re looking for new psychic movies to watch or just want to see something new and different you haven’t seen before, we’ve got your back. In this guide, we share insight into five films about psychics that maybe you haven’t seen or didn’t even know about. Check them out below!

Are Psychics Bad?

We know that the movie and film industry has taken it upon themselves to make most psychic movies into thrillers and scary movies. But it really doesn’t have to be that way. This is just where they have found the best fits to portray this type of character. And you will find that some of the movies we share below also fall into that scary realm.

But in real life, psychics are not all bad or even scary. A psychic is simply an individual who is able to discern information that most people don’t know. Their skills involve things like telepathy, reading the future, clairvoyance, and more. There are many very kind psychics who share these skills with the public. You can find professional psychics through places like Keen Psychics and other companies that can share readings and insights personalized to you.

In the movies, they often portray thrilling or scary characters, but keep in mind those are the movies! Now, look for your thrills and psychic movie ideas below. Check out these five options.

5 Lesser Known Movies About Psychics

1. The Clairvoyant

This movie is definitely one not many know about, but it’s a great film that’s written by Charles Bennett. While you may not recognize his name, you may recognize that he was responsible for many of Hitchcock’s films, although this is not one of them. He took many of the same qualities and suspenseful skills to create this movie, and it’s good.

In the movie, the psychic actually is just pretending to be so but eventually starts to have real visions, and they show a scary future.

2. The Amazing Mr. X

If you love old films, this one's for you. The Amazing Mr. X is a film from 1948 that is in black and white, and it was dubbed an American horror movie. The movie is about a young woman who lost her husband and seeks the help of a medium to contact him. She meets a nice young man who pretends to be a psychic and medium to win her over. Of course, there will be a classic turn of events to bring the perfect twist to the story.

3. Magic in the Moonlight

This movie was made in 2014 but is set back in 1928. Emma Stone and Colin Firth act together in this romantic comedy that is far from your usual thriller. The gentleman is a magician that uses conjuring capabilities. He goes on a quest to show that psychics and mediums are fake, only to find that perhaps they are not as fake as he thought. He might even experience some romance along the way.

4. The Dead Zone

The Dead Zone is a Stephen King creation, which means that it’s packed full of scary moments. In this movie from 2002, you will see far more than just psychic powers. There is also time travel, supernatural moments, and more here. The movie is about a young man who wakes up from a coma with psychic abilities, and there are plenty of scary moments from there.

5. Midnight, Texas

Midnight, Texas is a more recent film, but it wasn’t widely heard of when it was released in 2017. This was geared towards a teen audience and revolved around drama and fantasy with some mystery in it as well. In the town of Midnight, no one is normal, and there are plenty of fantasy characters, including vampires, werewolves, psychics, and more. It’s a captivating fantasy with a bit of romance too.

Final Thoughts

Psychic movies can certainly be intriguing, and there are tons of different options out there. These movies have been made since the 1920s, and sometimes you just have to dig a little bit to find the best ones. Whether you’re looking for something scary or funny, there are plenty of choices to be found!
