GT Home

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has signed on as the Co-Presenting Sponsor of the 2016 American Film Market® (AFM) Conference Series, set for November 2-9 in Santa Monica, CA.

“The synergies are numerous,” said Stefan Lütje, an AFM Finance Conference panelist and head of the law firm’s Media Sector Group in its German office. “On a global scale, we are poised to address the legal needs of key players in the motion picture, television, digital media, and many other entertainment and media industries. Like many of the AFM participants, we work within the industry assisting clients across a project’s time line -- from developing and financing films and television programs, on through to the production, sales, and distribution.”

“We are proud to be the official law firm sponsor of the American Film Market,” said Tom K. Ara, Entertainment & Media Shareholder in the law firm’s Los Angeles office. “Greenberg Traurig plays a vital role with key players in today’s global film and television business including representing numerous IFTA® members in a myriad of industry matters and this is a natural progression of the growth and development of our award-winning global entertainment and media practice.”

“Greenberg Traurig is a global leader and innovator in film finance transactions,” said Jonathan Wolf, AFM managing director. “We are thrilled to add their experienced voice to the discussions and we truly appreciate their support of the America Film Market.”

Robert J. Sherman, a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig, is speaking on Friday, November 4 at 11:15am – 12:45pm on “How Equity is Successfully Investing in Film.” This session will explore the deal structures that attract equity and the types of projects that generate the most interest. In addition Lütje is speaking on Sunday, November 6 at 11:15am – 12:45pm on “The Film Finance Matrix: From Script to Screen.” The panel will be presented with five film packages – each with partial or limited funding. They will explore and disclose how each film could be fully financed.
