TICFFTaiwan International Children’s Film Festival (TICFF) is a biennial event founded by Public Television Service (PTS) in 2004. It is the first film and television festival in Asia dedicated entirely to children aged 12 and under. Highlights of the festival include an international competition with cash prizes to attract the best productions for children, and “Kids as Directors” section, a project founded with the first edition of TICFF in 2004. This project provides young filmmakers in Taiwan a chance to take the lead and create their own works with assistance from professionals. Their works will be screened during the festival along with productions made by international counterparts. By hosting TICFF, PTS hopes to give the local young generation a chance to view the world from diverse perspectives. We sincerely invite you to share your great works with our young audience and join us to enjoy this great series of festival events in 2020!
Film Exposure Beyond the Taiwan International Children's Film FestivalWhatever happens during the Festival, should not simply stay in the Festival. The Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival (TICFF) aspires to broaden the journey by reaching out to the public through extended showcases and streaming service. TICFF was initiated by Public Television Service (PTS Taiwan) in 2004. Held biennially, it is the first and largest film and television festival in Asia dedicated entirely to children aged 12 and under, displays quality children’s programming from around the world. Stepping into the 9th edition, TICFF develops a series of activities to expand the exposure of selected films. In cooperation with city governments, our post-festival tour takes place in different cities throughout the country. Other than extending the festival, TICFF takes up the trend of online streaming and establishes an online family cinema on “PTS+”, the OTT platform launched by Taiwan Public Television Service (PTS). In the Festival’s “offline” and “online” events, TICFF aims to create more opportunities allowing kids throughout the country to engage in the experience. With the 9th edition scheduled to take place in early April 2020, TICFF is now open for submissions, offering cash prizes up to USD25,000 in total. The competition attracts global filmmakers and production houses. In 2018, over 1,000 entries from 101 countries were submitted to TICFF. As each Festival’s young viewer grows up with the memories from the experience, TICFF grows with them. Their participation contributes to TICFF enhancing the quality of future events, in order to develop more exciting possibilities for the young generation.
