David Branin

Writer/Director David Branin grew up near Hartford, Connecticut.  Raised by a single deaf mother, he picked up her skill of observing and reading people.  It wasn't until his college career was almost over that the dream of making a major motion-picture burst into his head. David and three of his closest friends wrote an original screenplay together and moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to pursue their own Hollywood ending. His pursuit of that dream continues to this day.

He is the Director/Writer/Producer of Night Before the Wedding and Co-Host of Film Courage.

His work has been seen by millions online.  His short films, Shoot-Out and Honey, I'm Home have garnered the most acclaim, having combined to screen in over 40 international film festivals while winning their share of awards.

  KAREN WORDEN
Karen Worden

Actress/Spokesperson Karen Worden co-hosts L.A. Talk Radio's "Film Courage".  At age 18, Karen drove herself and her belongings to Los Angeles from the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue her acting career.  As many an L.A. transplant will do, Karen worked several odd jobs to pay the rent.  Karen's had many interesting work experiences which have further flavored her character.

Karen's style is earthy with a slight touch of fire (thanks to a combination of a sun in Pisces with a Sagittarius rising for all you astrology buffs), easygoing, intuitive and direct. In hosting the new Internet radio talk show, "Film Courage," Karen seeks to probe industry professionals on their quest for greater things.  Karen's in-depth questioning discovers how individuals overcome the naysayers, along with quieting the harshest of critics - oneself!  She questions industry professionals on their fear of success versus fear of failure, overcoming self-sabotage, and developing one's greatest strengths.

Karen's credits include Honey I'm Home, Road Therapy, Weekend Get Away, Religious Freaks Gone Wild, Mind Over Matter Man, Smoking - The Movie and the latest Night Before the Wedding.  Karen also wrote and starred in a one-woman play showcased at the Space Theatre entitled The Other Woman, as well as being featured in several commercials and print ads.  One of her favorite shoots was working with Richard Simmons on his Sweatin' to the Oldies series.

Film Courage Interactive Screening Series Ft. PARADISE RECOVERED 11-29-10 7 - 11 pm LA

LA Talk Radio's Film Courage with David Branin and Karen Worden present the 13th Film Courage Interactive at The Downtown Independent with feature film PARADISE RECOVERED and short film PIANO FINGERS on 11/29/10 from 7 pm to 11 pm in Los Angeles.

PARADISE RECOVERED (Feature):

Directed: Storme Wood
Written by: Andie Redwine

Esther Harris, a young woman praised for her virtue and devotion to Warren F. Vanderbilt’s Prophetic Watchman Ministries, has been given the opportunity of a lifetime – to attend Vanderbilt’s Kingdom Bible College.

When the fundamentalist Christian sect falls on hard times, Esther looks for employment at a local health food store to supplement the group’s income.

At the store, Esther gets a chance to share her faith with her new manager, Gabriel, a devout skeptic and preacher’s kid, and his roommate, Mark, a college drop-out who finds Christian television to be great entertainment.

The friendship with Gabriel and Mark help Esther determine her human worth while helping her reframe her faith in a whole new light.

Shot entirely on location in Southern Indiana and Austin, Texas, Paradise Recovered attempts a modern-day retelling of the parable of the Good Samaritan while addressing hard questions involving faith, tolerance, and spiritual abuse in modern culture.

PIANO FINGERS (short):

Directed by Nicholas Carmen
Written By Nicholas Carmen and Ava Bogle
Length - 25 min.

2010 Hollyshorts Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film
2010 Rhode Island International Film Festival - First (Tied) Prize for Best Cinematography
2010 Young Cuts Film Festival Award - My Filmmaker Award

Howard and May, a once-famous entertainment couple from the 1950s, have entombed themselves in a decaying house cluttered with memorabilia from the peak of their career. As May begins to lose her memory to Alzheimer's disease, Howard attempts to rekindle their love through the music they performed in their youth.

The Film Courage Interactive is a three-part event featuring 1) One short film with Directors’ Q & A; 2) A feature film screening of Paradise Recovered with Director’s Q&A; and 3) An in-depth discussion among fellow artists on upcoming projects, the current state of independent film, and epiphanies about the business (similar to a filmmaker support group).

The goal of the Film Courage Interactive is to build an appetite for independent film, bringing artists together in a collaborative setting while experiencing the beautiful theater of The Downtown Independent.
