Baron Muenchhausen tells the legendary adventure tales of the German "Baron of Lies". As the story unfolds he has seen better times and tells his high tales at a pub for money when a girl claims to be his daughter. To prove her wrong they make their way to St. Petersburg to see her mother and experience many unbelievable adventures on their journey.

Second chapter
The cannonball catapulted Munchhausen and Frieda up onto the moon; the Man in the Moon blesses mankind from up here with shooting stars and he gives the two heroes the rope with which they can get back down to earth – right into the middle of the deepest Russian winter. In the bitter cold, even the Russian post horns freeze. But Frieda does not seem to be in a hurry to return to her mother. In St Petersburg too, the girl does everything she can to stay longer with Munchhausen. In the Tsarina's palace, she finds a scheming adversary in the shape of Catherine the Great. She wants to have Munchhausen all to herself and is madly jealous of the child which looks so like her Baron. When she discovers Frieda's secret, her life is no longer safe…
