Remarkable Short Film Based on Play Developed at the World-Renowned Actors Studio, Directed by former Denver Film Festival Juror and Award-Winning Director Mitch Levine

This weekend (November 9 & 10), the STARZ DENVER FILM FESTIVAL hosts the world premiere of Mitch Levine’s IN CONFIDENCE. Based on a play by Deborah Pearl developed at the legendary Actors Studio (home to many of the greatest stars of stage and screen –Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel, Al Pacino and many others), the film stars Beege Barkette in a remarkable tour de force performance as the only character in the drama. The film tracks the life of Molly, a woman who finds herself in an unusual circumstance, makes the provocative choice to take money for sex – and the consequences that choice has on the rest of her life. In a daring cinematic choice, Molly speaks directly to camera for the entire film, which intercuts between her conscious and sub-conscious lives.

IN CONFIDENCE screens on Saturday, November 9 at 7:15pm and Sunday, November 10 at 9:15pm at the UA Pavilions Cinema (500 16^th Street in Denver). IN CONFIDENCE was directed by Mitch Levine, a film and stage director with credits the world over in theatre, film, opera and dance.  He designed PAURA DI VOLARE at La Scala, Peter Gabriel/Moses Pendleton’s PASSION in London, was the Production Director of MOMIX Dance Theater and the Artistic Supervisor of the Robert Wilson/Philip Glass opera, EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH. Mitch was the first James Cameron Fellow in Directing at the American Film Institute, where he directed COLETTE, based on the French writer, STALE IDENTITY, an homage to Hitchcock and film noir and SHADOWS, a multi-award winning exploration of love, family and the attraction of evil during the Holocaust. He directed multiple episodes of the sit-com, LIVING & LEARNING for C/W in New York and the documentary feature films, HUNGRY IS THE TIGER, on the food crisis in India and Indonesia; and MORPHING GRAVITY, chronicling the creation of an aerial ballet.

Beege Barkette has starred in stage productions across the country from Ionesco off-Broadway to the West Coast premier of Arthur Miller’s SOME KIND OF LOVE STORY. Her film and TV credits include THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, THE ONION FIELD, THE FRISCO KID, SECOND HAND HEARTS, RENT CONTROL, HAVANA RUSH, DEATH MATCH, CLOSE TO THE BONE, BABYLON 5, THE BASTARD and THE WHOLE TRUTH.

IN CONFIDENCE’s producer, the award winning filmmaker Mary-Lyn Chambers, was born in Suva, Fiji, and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. She produced and directed the remarkable short, THE RAIN HAS FORGOTTEN US and has produced and organized many prestigious festivals and events, including the Independent Spirit Awards, the LA Film Festival, the Denver International Film Festival and the Doha Tribeca Film Festival in Quatar.

Deborah Pearl is a screenwriter and playwright who’s worked on such shows as the critically acclaimed DESIGNING WOMEN. Her stage collection, ABOUT SEX: A GANGLION OF SHORT PLAYS, was a finalist at HBO's Comedy Fest. Her first film, WAITING FOR YVETTE, starred Wendie Malick and earned high honors at Logo Networks Click Fest. Also a singer, her latest music project was singing the tunes of multiple Grammy-winning jazz legend Benny Carter. She has added vocals to such TV shows as ER, FRASIER and GRACE UNDER FIRE and has been a backup singer for artists from Linda Ronstadt to Neil Young.

The Director of Photography is Svetlana Cvetko, who shot the Oscar-winning INSIDE JOB and INEQUALITY FOR ALL (currently in theatres), along with MISS REPRESENTATION, UNTITLED (with Adam Goldberg) and is currently shooting the Parker Posey/Eric McCormack/James Frain feature, THE ARCHITECT.

James V Kent was a New York-based set decorator until he was summoned to Los Angeles by Michael Mann to decorate the short-lived and now legendary HBO series, LUCK. Jim has worn many hats in his 20 year career, mostly as a property master, art director, or set decorator on such films or miniseries as LAST OF THE MOHICANS, ALI, JOHN ADAMS, MICHAEL CLAYTON, FRINGE and STONE.

Penka Kouneva is a Sundance Composer Fellow who blends her native Eastern-European influences with modern orchestra, medieval chant, rock, and electronica. She orchestrated TRANSFORMERS1, 2, 3, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3, HOSTEL I and II, Tim Burton's "9", SHERLOCK HOLMES, ANGELS AND DEMONS, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, YOUR HIGHNESS and the hit TV show TRUE BLOOD. Recently, she worked on the video games PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE FORGOTTEN SANDS, GEARS OF WAR 3, A4 and TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

IN CONFIDENCE marks editor Nahall Esteghamat’s professional debut. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2011 with a BA in Mass Media Arts and a minor in Film Studies. Since moving to Los Angeles, she has edited projects for independent advertising consultants and various post-production houses. Previously, Nahall did post-production work for The Weather Channel and ESPNU for live sports broadcasts.
