El Maguey es un símbolo de México. Desde el principio de los tiempos ha sido fundamental para el desarrollo de la cultura mesoamericana. Los invasores lo llamaron “árbol de las maravillas”. No ha existido en nuestra nación artista plástico que no haya sucumbido a la tentación de plasmar un maguey. Con sus pencas y quiote se construyen casas, se teje ropa, se preparan alimentos; en sus entrañas vive el ocuili, el gusanito, el chinicuil, bocado milenario; de su corazón mana el elixir de vida mexicano por excelencia: el aguamiel, aquel con el que los creadores decidieron llenar de placer a los hombres llamándolo octli, el pulque.

Hoy el maguey está en peligro de extinción, sin embargo comunidades otomíes y nahuas de Hidalgo, Tlaxcala y Morelos lo veneran y sobreviven gracias a sus bondades. Maguey rescata la memoria viva de una lucha por conservar nuestra identidad y nuestro cordón umbilical con esta tierra.

Maguey is a symbol of Mexico. Since the beginning has been instrumental in the development of Mesoamerican culture. The invaders called it "tree of wonders". There has been artist in our nation that has not succumbed to the temptation to fashion a maguey. With quiote pads and houses are built, is woven clothes, food preparation, in her womb ocuili lives, the worm, the chinicuil, snack millennial its heart are the issues of life elixir quintessential Mexican: mead, one with the creators decided to fill the pleasure to men calling octli, pulque.

Today the maguey is endangered, however Otomi and Nahua communities of Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Morelos revere him and survive on their merits. Maguey rescues the living memory of a struggle to preserve our identity and umbilical cord with this land.

Sinopsis:

Marta vive en el campo, cosecha maíz para hacer productos de chócolo y venderlos. Vive con su gallina llamada Doris. Todos los días reciben la visita de un hombre al que deben alimentar para que no le haga daño. El visitante pide comer gallina esa noche, pero el tiempo para conseguir una gallina es muy corto y Marta deberá matar a Doris para salvarse. Al no ser capaz de matar a la gallina, Marta decide enfrentar a su agresor. Tocan la puerta, la mujer seca sus lágrimas de impotencia, agarra el cuchillo con que matarían a la gallina. Espera pacientes mientras escucha los fuertes golpes del visitante.

Marta lives in the field, harvest corn for corncob and sell products. He lives with his hen named Doris. Every day they are visited by a man he must feed so you do not hurt him. The visitor asks eating chicken that night, but the time to get a chicken is very short and Martha Doris must kill to save. Not being able to kill the goose, Martha decides to confront her attacker. Knock on the door, she dried her tears of helplessness, grab the knife that killed the goose. Patients Wait while listening to heavy blows of the visitor.

La familia de Diana produce dulces de coco en casa. Joe, el hermano menor, recoge los cocos y Diana y su madre cocinar los dulces. Su padre, Zacarías, viaja a la ciudad para venderlos. Pero todo cambia después Diana toma un baño en el río.

Diana’s family produces coconut sweets at home. Joe, the younger brother, picks the coconuts and Diana and their mom cook the candy. Their father, Zacarías, travels to the city to sell them. But everything changes after Diana takes a bath in the river.
