As I go around promoting the festival... I am often asked, "What is the CommonDistrict.com Film Festival?... As we are new in the game, I feel that I should let everyone know just who we are and what we are about.

We are a small collective group of individuals, from screenplay writers to painters to poets, who feel that the usual style of festival is just not enough anymore.  With the popularity of sites like YouTube and others it became clear to us that there are thousands of individuals with stories bouncing around in their head, they just need a place to share them.  That's where we come in.  We are looking for great stories.  We have been through the usual festival grind.  With the high priced entry fees, the likely hood that you may not get picked for the festival, and the fact that a small group judges the work, seems archaic to me...  Not to mention the fact that these festivals are only held once a year. In the CommonDistrict.com Film Festival, we have a low entry fee, we are a monthly contest, everyone that submits can be assured that their film will be shown*.  We don't judge the films ourselves, we let the people decide which film is the best... Because, as a film maker, in the end isn't that who you are ultimately trying to impress?  The other benefit to our festival as opposed to the others is that we have taken the time to set up a meeting place in the virtual world of Second Life.  It's free and open 24/7... We want you to meet new people, hang out with friends, have discussions with other film makers, possibly make a contact or two, in a completely different way.  In the end there are a lot of benefits to the CommonDistrict.com Film Festival.  We know the struggle you, as a film maker, face...
