Cinemad Independent and Cult FIlm Festival


 
Cinemad it's a reference festival for the lovers of cinema, people who have been enjoying this festival for 19 years with the best and most risky national & international audiovisual proposals of the moment.

Since 1994, Cinemad schedules the most recent and risky films, anticipating the blockbusters trends, discovering new talents and creating trends. At the same time that rescues of the past authentic masterpieces, that because of the lack of promotion went unnoticed by commercial cinemas in our country.

During all these editions, Cinemad has premiered films from directors such as Martin Scorsese, Kim Ki-Duk and Jim Jarmusch, reaching one of its main goals: Become a space where novice filmmakers ,from different countries, can display and spread new proposals, next to other filmmakers more consecrated.

 

In 2000, the festival became International with it's Shortfilm contest. Now we move on step forward with our first “Work in Progress Contest (WIPP)” for Feature Films, where we carry on searching for risky and newfangled audiovisual proposals, from all over the world.

WIPP – 1st WORK IN PROGRESS PROGRAM

Rules of participation

 

WIPP: 1st Work-In-Progress Program, is an initiative shared between Cinemad, the XX Independent and Cult Film Festival of Madrid, and various leading companies in the audiovisual sector who have collaborated for many years with Cinemad in the search for young talent and the launch of their careers.

WIPP is aimed at novice directors whose first full-length film is in post-production, and their producers.

WIPP was born with the aim of ensuring the completion of the competition winner´s feature film (up to standard copy), ensuring its distribution in different formats and boosting its circulation and distribution, both nationally and internationally.

The jury will select 5 finalists whose films which will be screened at Cinemad 2013 before an audience composed exclusively of accredited industry professionals, and will choose the winner of the WIPP Award.

The presentation in Cinemad 2013 of the 5 finalist films aims to assist  these productions in obtaining the necessary funds for completion, offering access to distribution with the aim of reaching the widest possible audience.

WIPP will continue to confirm the participation of additional companies, currently under negotiation, for the provision of post-production services to the winning film.

 

WIPP is governed by the following conditions of participation:

1.- The following are eligible for the competition: holders of the exclusive rights to exploit the intellectual property in the respective feature-length cinematographic work, of any nationality, and the audiovisual recordings of the corresponding artistic interpretations contained therein. Films are only eligible where their production has commenced after January 1, 2012, where they have a minimum length of 75 min, and where they are still under postproduction.

2.- The presentation of any work implies acceptance of these rules in their entirety. There is not partial or limited acceptance hereof.

3.- A work will be accepted from any film genre and nacionality but must be the "debut" of the director (ie. the first cinematographic work created by the audiovisual director).

4.- Regardless of nationality, films originally shot in any language other than Spanish, including any other official languages ​​of the Spanish state, must provide WIPP with a copy subtitled in Spanish for evaluation by the jury and for exhibition in Cinemad 2013. 

5.- Those interested may send their films to WIPP through www.reelport.com  from October 17, 2013 until November 11, 2013 11:00 AM. Must pay 12 € as a registration fee and must fill out the registration form hosted on this website in order to meet all the WIPP requirements.

6.-  WIPP will select, in its sole judgment and discretion, the five finalist films that will be screened during Cinemad '13 and will make public the names of the finalists on November 21, 2013, at the Opening Party of Cinemad'13. The winning film of the WIPP Award will be announced on November 30, 2013 at the Closing Party and Awards Ceremony of Cinemad'13. The applicants whose works have been selected as part of this process, hereby authorize, on a non-exclusive basis and only for the purposes set forth in these rules, the public communication/performance of their works and the audiovisual recordings contained therein during the celebration of Cinemad'13, without remuneration of any kind. The applicants will be solely responsible for any intellectual property-related costs or expenses that may arise, if any, from such communication/performance.

7.- The candidate whose work wins the WIPP Award will enter into a co-production relationship and share of rights in the film with the sponsor companies referred to Paragraph 11 below, and any additional post-production sponsors that may yet be confirmed, in accordance with a percentage share based on investment in the film.

8.- The applicants guarantee that they hold the exclusive rights of exploitation, referred to the previous provision, to the submitted works and all of their content, exempting WIPP from any liability to third parties arising from the exploitation of the selected works.

9.- The selected projects must confirm mandatorily their presence at the meetings with professionals set by the organization of Cinemad'13.

10.- Both the winning film and the WIPP finalist films agree to grant to Cinemad a free performance at the edition that follows the completion of the work, at the place, date and time determined by the organization of Cinemad. 

11.- A jury of personalities from different fields of culture and representatives of the collaborating companies shall elect one WIPP Award winning film that will benefit from nearly half a million euros in post-production services, offered by the following WIPP sponsor companies:

       1º. EVASION: Video post-production services and image processing valued at    100,000  € (standard pricing).

2º. LA BOCINA: Audio postproduction services valued at 50,000 € (standard pricing).

3º.[PIAS]: Musical Advisory services and negotiation, and granting of publishing and phonograph rights to songs from its catalog, valued at 30,000 € (standard pricing).

4º.NTeam: Design of launch and PR strategy, promotional event production and coordination of the departments of design, media and PR valued at 60,000 €.

5º.FILMIN: Online Distribution in filmin.es, iTunes, Playstation, Google Play and YouTube and in Europe through EuroVoD network, valued at € 3,000.

6º.DELETEC: Design, programming, development, maintenance and updating of the website, facebook and social networks, valued at 30,000 €.

7º.SANTIAGO MEDIANO ABOGADOS: Legal advisory services relating to production, post-production and exploitation valued at 25,000 €.

8º.PIZCA GUTIÉRREZ: Coordination services of postproduction, distribution and national and international exploitation in all formats valued at 75,000 €.

9º.SUAVE PRODUCTIONS: Executive production services valued at € 96,000.

12.- The participants guarantee that their respective works do not infringe the rights of third parties and that they have not performed, nor will perform any act that is likely to prevent or hinder Cinemad, WIPP and/or the collaborating companies and institutions, in the full and peaceful exercise of the rights granted under these rules.

13.- The winner of the WIPP Prize agrees to include in the credits of its film the award received and  the logos of: Cinemad, WIPP and sponsoring companies and institutions under the heading: With the support of ...

14.- The presentation of the work within the specified time limits implies acceptance of these rules. Any circumstances not referred to herein, shall be resolved definitively by the jury. The jury's decision is final.

15.- By entering into the competition, you are informed that, and expressly consent to, Suave Productions, as Data Manager, collecting and processing the personal data requested on the entry form which will be processed for the purposes of carrying out competition management as well as for communicating to you, including by electronic means, commercial information that may be of interest. Your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition, which may be exercised by sending a postal communication with a copy of your ID, with the subject "ref LOPD",  to Calle San Bernardo, 8-4 ° izquierda - 28015 Madrid, are acknowledged.
