Entry call for one of UK's most diverse, inclusive and collaborative international film festivalsEntry call for region’s international film festival Submissions for the inaugural North East International Film Festival (NEIFF) are now open. The three-day festival which will take place in venues across Newcastle and run from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 of November 2021, promises to showcase and celebrate talent from a local to an international level. Film producer and Festival Director, Lisa-Marie Tonelli, said that NEIFF’s categories for entrants are diverse and that the number one objective was to ensure the event is inclusive in every aspect. “This is going to be the first festival of its kind for the North East, and NEIFF welcomes and encourages submissions from a broad spectrum of genres,” she said. “As a region we have so much to offer the film industry and I feel proud and excited that this festival will put filmmakers from a multitude of backgrounds on an international stage. “NEIFF has a broad scope but an inclusive narrative, underpinned by our choice to include the standard international submission categories as well as more diverse, collaborative and inclusive ones including the first ever VisABLE category which is to represent disability in all its forms.” NEIFF will be a ticketed festival that will maximise the opportunity to showcase local talent, companies and the region’s stunning film locations as well as offering industry-led free workshops, special screenings and networking events throughout its 72-hour duration. NEIFF which is working in partnership with many organisations including Disability North, is also calling for further partner collaboration and anyone interested should get in touch with Lisa-Marie via neiff.co.uk, while film submissions should be made through FilmFreeway and via the website too. The full list of categories which are now all open for submissions are: Fiction, Animation, Documentary, Horror, North East, F-Rated, LGBTQ+, VisABLE, Student, Low/No Budget, Most Diverse Work.
