Toronto Film Festival Moves Downtown

user
The 2010 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most important events of the film calendar, is readying for a major move to downtown Toronto from its previous digs in the swanky Yorkville section. The new action is set on Queen Street and King Street West, a vital area of theaters, restaurants, bars and, not coincidentally, the newly opened TIFF Bell Lightbox, the Festival's main hq and the site of the Festival's year-round programs. As the Toronto event takes a deep breath in anticipation of its big opening tomorrow and the Venice Film Festival exhales after nearly 10 days of movie madness, the next few days sees a rare overlapping of two major film showcases, 5000 miles apart. The accent of both events are in apparent transition. Venice is  makin...

Dialogues With Cinema Greats

Wednesday, September 5--------While high potency celebrities making their way on the red carpet capture the bulk of media attention here (hey Brad, take off those sun glasses, we want to see your fabulous face.....), the Festival has assembled a group of true cinema greats for a program it calls DIALOGUES: Talking With Pictures. This is the rare opportunity for film buffs (comme moi) to hear from some of the most illustrious names of the past half century in film in an intimate setting. This is ...
