The Tallgrass Film Association announced that five-time Festival Director Lela Meadow-Conner will helm the non-profit arts organization as Executive Director in 2011, overseeing the organization's various programs including the Tallgrass Film Festival, Tallgrass Third Thursday screening series and the Tallgrass Filmmakers Lab. Last night we were treated to a wonderful performance of “Acting: The First Six Lessons,” a play adapted and performed by Beau Bridges and his daughter Emily Bridges. The play was based on the 1933 book by Richard Boleslavsky which was given to Beau, when he was fourteen by his father Lloyd Bridges. It was the only book about acting his father ever gave him.

Well, after watching the Golden Globe Awards ceremonies last evening, I had the distinct feeling: who needs the Oscars? I've already seen the winning films, directors and actors and heard their acceptance speeches. The Oscar ceremony, which is not scheduled until six weeks from now, seems quite besides the point. Except for the fashion ("who are you wearing?" is the question of the moment), I am imagining that last night's Golden Globe winners will be simply re-doing their "best of" acceptance...
