Quendrith JohnsonQuendrith Johnson is filmfestivals.com Los Angeles Correspondent covering everything happening in film in Hollywood... Well, the most interesting things, anyway. Harry & Meghan land on Spotify for a meaningful HNY 2021 pod-momentby Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent Ever since the word “Megxit” was coined off the back of the anxiety-provoking term Brexit, Royal Family ex-pat Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, have been tested by the slings and arrows of derisive social media from the UK. The Daily Mail, which has routinely pilloried Meghan and slated Prince Harry, has even been sued by the couple for these routine thrashings. They could not “put a foot right,” as the saying goes. When they moved to Santa Barbara, that did not stop the negative media chatter from overseas. In response, the Anglo-American couple have mostly ignored the negative press. They secured a deal with Netflix, not a surprise, but also with Spotify.com, a podcast and music platform. The surprise here is that Archewell Audio has hit on something near and dear: connecting poetry, music, philosophy, sports, and healing in the Pandemic. It's a truly experimental and eclectic approach that shows they're not afraid to risk it all on a personal venture. This isn’t an attempt to have a “hit” podcast, it is merely pulling together balloon strings of various voices and perspectives to give a lift and lightness in such dire times for so many people. Their company, named for son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, has taken a leap trying to make what Elton John calls “the worst year ever” a little better on the way to 2021 and beyond. “Love always wins,” Prince Harry concludes. Prince Harry & Meghan Markle as just? “This is Harry… This is Meghan” in the intro. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2RfvSuWxcoyweXhNSeTbMR Holiday Special with Elton John, Tyler Perry, Brené Brown, George The Poet, and more. https://open.spotify.com/episode/3pgBKgulhg8adZJismM5bj If you listen to the end of the Holiday Special, you’ll even hear Archie laugh, which is awesome.
