Well, the most interesting things, anyway. ![]() Dive into the VFX in Tom Hanks’ GREYHOUND & Hanks wrote it tooby Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent What can’t Tom Hanks do? He can MC a Presidential inaugural celebration, and apparently write a top-flight screenplay for recent release GREYHOUND, where he stars as a Navy veteran facing Nazi U-boats. You have to assume he used one of the vintage typewriters from his collection, right? Maybe not. But now they’re showing the behind-the-scenes green scene skeleton of this Summer release from Apple Original Films. Summer being last Summer, but since nobody went out then, you get a chance to see it now. Aren’t you glad the #lockdown is over. Or? Imagine being stuck in a submarine, and then things come into perspective. This is the greatest country in… a while. Hanks new film is a Playtone Production, of course, from Sony Pictures Entertainment/Stage 6 Films, but also in association with Bron Creative, Zhengfu Pictures, Sycamore Pictures and FilmNation Entertainment. Hanks: a million skills
Official blurb from Apple TV+ on GREYHOUND Tom Hanks stars as a longtime Navy veteran who, as a first-time captain, is tasked with protecting a convoy of 37 ships carrying thousands of soldiers and much-needed supplies across the treacherous waters of the Atlantic during World War II. For five days with no air cover, the captain and his small force of three escort ships must make their way through an area of the ocean known as “the Black Pit,” battling Nazi U-boats while protecting their invaluable ships and soldiers. “Greyhound" is inspired by events during the Battle of the Atlantic, which took place in the earliest months of America’s alliance with Great Britain and the Allied Forces. Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan and Elisabeth Shue star alongside Hanks. “Greyhound" was written by Tom Hanks, directed by Aaron Schneider and produced by Gary Goetzman.
