Synopsis A mariachi singer, Jaime García, is also known as El charro de Toluquilla. He has assumed the cocky and seductive attitude shown by characters of classical Mexican cinema as an alternative, but effective, treatment for AIDS. Now, in order to survive, he debates between keeping this fantasy alive as a way of life and having a more down-to-earth attitude to rear his young daughter, Analía, who was miraculously born without the virus. Charity by Marcelino Islas Hernández, a Santiago García Galván production. Synopsis Angélica and José Luis have been married for thirty years and they have always lived at the same house; first with their son, Daniel, and now, by themselves. Their daily routine is threatened when José Luis loses a leg in a car accident. When they try to restructure their life, they realize their relation was already fractured and opt for silence. However, they begin a passionate search for all they have lost. José Luis takes refuge in a sexual fantasy about his young nurse, while Angélica tries to remain just as contained as she always has for so many years. Heirs by Jorge Hernández Aldana, a Michel Franco production. Synopsis Teenagers’ leisure at full swing: a group of friends spend their holidays at parties, having sex, boozing, and partaking in any adventure that brings them a boost of adrenaline. As they use violence for entertainment and to fulfill their authoritarian fantasies, their adventures will show the cracks and the collapse of the perfect world they live in. Light Feet byJuan Carlos Núñez, a Henry Lesperance Álvarez production. Synopsis Light Feet shows the story of two of the best runners Mexico has ever had, and who are now forgotten. These are the lives of Victoriano Churo and Cirildo Chacarito, Raramuri Indians who in the 90’s reached their summit as sportsmen, receiving national and international recognition. However, lack of support for them forced two of the brightest sparks in ultra-marathon to dim out. Now, in the place where they have belonged for so many years, their descendants have a great task —to assert their place as the sturdiest runners in the world. You Will Know what to Do with Me by Katina Medina Mora, a Gerardo Gatica and Alberto Muffelmann production. Synopsis Nicolás, a photographer, has suffered epilepsy since childhood and he is forced to take care of himself and sacrifice a lot, though he lives a normal life. On the other hand, Isabel is a woman who, apparently, has her whole life figured out although her mother is ill and she has no choice but to try to save her. Isabel and Nicolás fall in love in spite of themselves, their demons, their ghosts, and their weaknesses. Suddenly engaged in a relationship none of them would have even dared to imagine, they experience the love, passion, insecurity, fear, and allergy to commitment typical in people who are drifting away.
Holy Days byAlejandra Márquez Abella, a Nicolás Celis and Sebastián Celis production. Synopsis Dali, a young woman who recently became a widow, travels to the beach for Easter holidays together with her young child, Pepe, and her new boyfriend, Chavez —with whom she is about to move in with. What was supposed to be a trip to bring the new family together becomes something else when their desires and ghosts surface. Finally, a series of unexpected events during their journey transforms them. And while some bonds become tighter, some others are damaged. Somehow their goal is achieved and they become a family, though maybe not quite the family they would have expected. 14.11.2014 | Los Cabos International Film Festival's blog Cat. : FILM
