The New Montreal FilmFest slated to be accredited by FIAPF as a competitive festival

The New Montreal FilmFest is slated to be accredited by the prestigious Paris-based International Federation of Film Producers' Associations (FIAPF).

Following meetings between New Montreal FilmFest’s president Alain Simard and artistic director Moritz de Hadeln, with the directors of FIAPF, the Federation agreed that one of its delegates would attend the inaugural edition of the new Festival to prepare its official accreditation for the 2006 edition.

As of 2005, the regulations governing the participation of films in the New Montreal FilmFest have been coordinated with FIAPF to meet the Federation's standards so as to protect the rights of producers, especially as they concern film piracy and intellectual property rights, as well as limits on the number of projections per film and festival publications distributed to industry and the public.

The New Montreal FilmFest's status as one of North America's few competitive festivals is supported by the principal government film agencies, Telefilm Canada and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles du Québec (SODEC).

The first edition of the New Montreal FilmFest will be taking place right in the heart of Montreal’s Latin Quarter on St. Denis Street from September 18th to 25th, 2005.
