The Marrakech Short Film Festival returned strongly for its third edition, which will take place from September 22 to September 29, 2023. This significant cinematic event will be held in iconic locations such as the Bahia Palace, the Cyber Park, Dar Cherifa, The Source Hotel, and the Museum of Decorative Arts. For this edition, Poland will be honored, offering a unique opportunity to discover the cinematic talent of this country. The Marrakech Short Film Festival aims to be more than just a festival; it aspires to be a dedicated platform for the short film industry and a support system for young filmmakers and cinema professionals. In collaboration with Chaoui Production, the festival has implemented a special "LOW BUDGET FILM" program to support the creation and development of the Moroccan short film industry. This program, under the patronage of producer Lamia Chraibi, provides comprehensive assistance to filmmakers from A to Z in their production process, including financial, technical, and mentoring support. This year, directors Jihane Joypaul and Karim Tajouaout will present their creations as part of this ambitious program. In this edition, Poland holds a special place with particular recognition for the country. The festival is proud to welcome Munka Studio as a partner. Since 2008, Munka Studio has been working within the Polish Filmmakers Association to produce debut films by emerging directors. The studio aims to encourage innovative art-house cinema by collaborating with talented young filmmakers. Among the notable achievements of the studio are "Silent Night" by Piotr Domalewski and "Supernova" by Bartosz Kruhlik, which have been acclaimed by festivals and awards. The international aspect of the festival is enhanced by the participation of world-renowned figures in cinema. The jury for this edition is chaired by Nour Eddine Lakhmari, an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter known for his distinctive contribution to Moroccan cinema. He is joined by Rachida Saadi, a Moroccan producer and director, as well as the talented actress Nisrine Erradi. This jury brings diverse expertise to evaluate and reward the best cinematic creations. The honored guests of this edition bring international diversity and exceptional talents. Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck, the director of Berlinale Shorts in Berlin, Germany, will provide an international perspective on short films. Hesham Nazih, a composer from Cairo, Egypt, known for his remarkable score in Marvel Studios' "Moon Knight," will also be present to share his artistic experience. Said Bey, the acclaimed Moroccan actor known for his diverse performances in cinema and theater, and Tadeusz Łysiak, a director from Warsaw, Poland, whose talent was recognized by the "Discovering Eye" award. His film "The Dress" has won several prestigious awards, including an Oscar nomination. The Marrakech Short Film Festival 2023 is a must-attend event for cinephiles and creators from around the world. This edition promises a week of inspiring cinematic discoveries, stimulating encounters, and the celebration of cultural diversity through the art of short films. 31.10.2023 | Editor's blog Cat. : FESTIVALS
