Excellent news for all who are eagerly awaiting the new edition of the Kino Otok - Isola Cinema festival! This year, the island reels will turn already between 8 and 12 June, so mark these dates on your calendar because you do not want to miss the most filmic festival at the seaside and the most maritime film festival in Slovenia! After considered deliberation and two editions at the end of summer, the festival team moved this year's edition back to the new - old term, when the summer is about to begin and the school year end. With numerous film-related experiences, intensified by the screenings under the stars, this summer break is definitely every cinephile's dream. Nevertheless, many a film in the programme will not be relaxing, but will present a challenge, confrontation and incitement enabling the viewers to expand their horizons and thereby their minds.

In five days, a series of carefully selected films will be screened at four venues: the Odeon Art Cinema, Culture Hall and, of course, the cinema under the stars - the Otok Open-air Cinema in Manzioli Square. As many filmmakers will be present at the festival, the visitors will get a chance to share their thoughts on the films with them at the Q&A sessions after the screenings or at one of the other festival venues where the friends of film will socialise, talk or even dance. Every evening, another important segment of the screenings will take place under the starry sky - a lively programme of the Video on the Beach section, which presents the works of young, non-established and mostly Slovenian filmmakers.

In addition to the screenings, various other programmes will contribute to the filmic atmosphere drawing festival visitors even deeper into the cinema world. The already established educational programmes are Silvan's Bay and the Happy DV workshop, in which, guided by their mentors, enthusiastically creative young people use their cameras to record - in their own unique way - Isola, its inhabitants and festival visitors as well as their interaction during the festival.
