The DVD Cannes collection

Since 2002, the Festival de Cannes pays tribute to Film DVD conceived as an enrichment of the cinematographic work.

This year, once again, the Festival de Cannes continues by awarding, first of all, the “Collection DVD – Festival de Cannes 2004” label to twenty titles chosen by an expert panel. These twenty are chosen from the total list provided by publishers and released between June 2003 and June 2004. Thus, from one Festival to the next, the whole DVD production for the year can be represented as part of the event.

After the first selection has been made, an Artistic Jury will award the “Prix DVD - Festival de Cannes 2004” prize, at Cannes, to the best work having received the Festival Label, at an official ceremony that is planned for Sunday May 16th at 4pm, salle Buñuel in the Palais des Festivals.

Both the “DVD - Festival de Cannes” Label and Prize are awarded according to certain criteria: the artistic quality of the cinematographic work, but also the value of its proposed supplements and the overall technical value of the whole.

The aim of the “Collection DVD Festival de Cannes” is to encourage the growth of this medium in terms of passing on the love of film.

Thus, each year, new film DVDs will come to enrich this prestigious collection. The label of quality will help publishers promote their best titles, and will also help film lovers find them. All these works may be watched in the dedicated DVD area in the “Club” inside the Palais des Festivals.

This year, the expert panel is made up of specialist journalists, publishers and distributors. Bernard ACHOUR, Jean-Luc BRUNET, Manuel CHICHE, Gérard DELORME, France DE MIJOLLA and Vincent PAUL-BONCOUR have awarded the “Collection DVD – Festival de Cannes 2004” label to the following titles:
