ON OCTOBER 27th STARTS “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2007”
On October 27th, at 5 p.m., with the opening, at Palazzo Giureconsulti (P.zza Mercanti 2 in Milano Free entrance) of the Exhibition ““WOMAN AND OLYMPIC VALUES: Women and Sport, Yesterday and Today” , by the OLYMPIC MUSEUM LAUSANNE - CIO, will start the “Opening Ceremony” of “Sport Movies & Tv 2007 - 25th Milan International FICTS Festival”, the most important International Festival dedicated to sports televisions and movies. 6 days of Sport, Cinema and Television of all over the world, for those who love cinema and sport Television, for those who produce it or tell about it, or just want to live videos through the 150 projections dealing with sport traditions coming from 45 different Nations. The “Award Ceremony” will take place on November 1st, at 6 p.m., at Palazzo Marino Piazza Scala 2 - Milano - Alessi Hall.

PERSONALITIES OF THE YEAR
Also for this edition of the “Sport Movies & Tv 2007” precious guests have assured their presence in this important occasion. Among those people who are being awarded with the “Guirlande d' Honneur”, will be: the Paralympic Oscar Pistorius, as “Male personality of the year”, sportsman equipped with particular prosthesis in carbon fibre that has arisen the highest level of interest among all the media all over the world, after his participation to the “Golden Galà” as to the 400m plan where he has been classified on second position. Pistorius holds a world record on all three distances on which he runs: on the 100, on the 200 and the 400 meters. The “Female personality of the year” is Yelena Isinbayeva, the record holder, the world-wide Olympic champion, the first woman got over 5 meters of pole vault. She has been elected as the “Woman Athlete of the year” by the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation). Philippe Leroy, the famous French actor who’s fond of sport and that has been a rugby player with the National Team, will be awarded with the “Guirlande d’Honneur to the career”.

THE MINISTERS PRESENT IN MILAN
On the occasion of the World wide Congress (on October 27th - 28th), among the representatives of the 43 foreign delegations at the “Sport Movies & Tv 2007” will be present: Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan International Cooperation Department Deputy Director of Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Mr. Le Tien Tho People’s Artist; Deputy Minister of Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism. Mr Abdol Reza Savar, Deputy President of Physical Education Organization in Cultural Affairs - the Head of the 6th Festival in Teheran, Mr Seyyed Amir Hosseini Head of the National Olympic and Paralympics Academy.

THE SPORT GUESTS
“Sport Movies & Tv 2007” enriches its program of appointments with 2 Workshops, 4 Meetings and 8 Conventions, with various topics dealing with the sport in its various expressions and manifestations; authoritative personages of the sport will take part to it, among whom: Ottavio Cinquanta Member of the IOC Executive Committee, Philippe Blanchard Director of the IOC Information Management Department, Bruno Grandi President of the International Federation of Gymnastic, Gianni Merlo President of the AIPS (International Sports Press Association), Francisco Ricci Bitti President of the Tennis International Federation, Gen. “GUIRLANDE D’HONNEUR”
Instituted in 1983, the award “Guirlande d’Honneur”, that reproduces the laurel wreath given to the winners of the first Olympic Games, is given every year to personalities who “played a significant role in the promotion of sports images as well as regards the cultural and ethical values of sports”. The works in the Festival will be evaluated by an International Jury directed by Andrew P. Luwandagga, appointed by FICTS and which is formed by 7 representatives of movies, media, sport and culture that will officially award, without appeal, the awards for each area of the sections in the contest: the “Guirlande d’Honneur 2007” and the “Mention d’Honneur”.

THE AWARDS
FICTS will award, outside of the sections, the following “Special Merit Awards”, among which: “The cup of the President of Italian Republic”, “Award IOC – International Olympic Committee”, “Regione Lombardia Award”, “Prize of the President of Provincia of Milano”, “The cup of the Mayor of Milan”, “Mass Media Critic Award – Bruno Beneck Plate”, “Chamber of Commerce of Milan Award”, “Award for Olympic Merits – AMOVA”, “Award of the Milano–Bicocca University”, “Award First Video – Istituto per il Credito Sportivo”, “Award for Sport Image 2007 – Gazzetta dello Sport”, “Award of the “cinema’s Studious”, “Cup of the Union Commerce and Tourism of Milan”.
