Save the date for the 2nd Bucharest Film Festival !

This years edition of the Bucharest Film Festival will take place from June 28 to July 6, 2008. Following the success from last years initial festival, this cinematic event again focuses on Central and South East European regions.

The programmers consider cinema as a mirror reflecting the needs and mentalities of different societies. One of the main principles of selecting films is drawing special attention to new filmmaking including their own ways of expression. The aim is to promote talents, to fight the cultural decay and to consolidate quality in culture, arts and mass media.

The competition programs are dedicated to Shorts and Documentaries, to International Films and to long-features from the Black Sea Region.
Within the International Film section, regional directors and films will have the opportunity of competing openly and directly with productions from all over the world.

The festival especially emphasises the program CineBlackSea which embraces films from Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. CineBlackSea is meant to be a link between countries that recent history kept apart in different social, political and economic ways. Like this, Bucharest transforms for nine days into a metropolis of cinema and arts.

This years Focus is dedicated to India and Bollywood. Some of the most important productions of the last years are planned to be screened in Bucharest. The films will be presented by a major representative of Indian Cinema.
