Sarajevo Film Fest wrapped its 9 day long 14th editionOver nine days, the Sarajevo festival — born in a sandbag-protected basement during the Bosnian war — showed 174 movies from 40 countries. The Sarajevo Film Festival was first time launched near the end of the war and grew into the biggest regional film competition. Festival aims to support and promote cinema and authors in Southeast Europe and lately it attracts over 100,000 people. This year's festival welcomed big names such as Kevin Spacey, Mike Leigh, Charlie Kaufman, Sharon Mequire etc as well as regional stars and filmmakers.
 
August, 2008 NYIIFVF Festival Juice from LA!Filmmakers, artists and festival goers had a blast at the west coast edition of The New Yo rk International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF). The 8-day indie film extravaganza opened at the Cabana Club with a packed networking party and film/art market planned by Annalisa San Juan. An interesting fusion of filmmakers, artists, actors, screenwriters from all over the globe mingled, celebrated and pitched their projects with some managing to intrigue press and eagle-eyed distributors searching for the next lucrative television deal.

Bangkok Film Festival going aheadNews that the Bangkok International Film Festival (BIFF) will indeed be run again this year was greeted enthusiastically by film-buffs in Thailand yesterday (Tuesday 29 July 2008), following months of indecision on the part of the owners of the event.
The budget will be smaller, a lot smaller than at its peak two years go, but that isn't worrying aficionados who simply want to get to see the best of the latest indie feature films from the region and elsewhere around the world.
