Creuza de Mà is back in streaming on Saturday and Sunday, the film music festival directed by Gianfranco Cabiddu.
Masterclasses and screenings are scheduled with an unpublished tribute to the city of Cagliari, "L 'Agnello" by Mario Piredda and the story of "Sonos' e Memoria".
Double appointment in streaming, Saturday and Sunday (5 and 6 December), with Creuza de Mà, the film music festival directed by the director Gianfranco Cabiddu, this year in its fourteen edition; a supplement that resumes and completes the path of the event which began at the end of August in Carloforte and then continued on the network, due to the health emergency, in the second part scheduled in Cagliari from 30 October to 1 November.
And right to the Sardinian capital, in the section of these two days entitled "Calaritana - Uno Sguardo d'amore", the four short films by Gianfranco Cabiddu are dedicated, to be shown on Saturday from 2.30pm to 11.30pm (subject to booking via email at creuzademafestival @ gmail .com), with which the director pays homage to his city: "Postcard", debut short film based on a text by the writer Bruno Tognolini from Cagliari; "Passaparola", a work to promote reading that becomes a pretext for a trip to the city; "Cagliari", again based on a text by Tognolini, a fake promotional film that investigates the secret soul of the city; and "Ghettendi pingiaras", a re-enactment of the bombings of 1943 through the testimonies of a resident of the historic district of Stampace.
Other settings and events in the feature film that completes the Saturday schedule: "L'agnello", recent debut on the big screen by the Sardinian director Mario Piredda, available to the public from 19 to 21.30 (always by reservation via email at creuzademafestival@gmail.com ). The issue of military polygons in Sardinia is the background to the painful family story described in the film: to save her father suffering from leukemia, the sixteen-year-old Anita - already motherless - goes in search of a compatible bone marrow donor, getting closer to her uncle, Gaetano, and trying to mend old grudges between the two brothers.
Also on Saturday, but in the morning, Mario Piredda together with Marco Biscarini, author of the music of "L'agnello", will be at the center of a masterclass on the work of music recording, director and musicians, editors and sound, which can be followed live streaming, starting at 10.30, on the festival's facebook page (www.facebook.com/creuzademafestival). Conducted by the musician and musicologist Riccardo Giagni, the meeting is part of the Music and Sound for Cinema Campus, the educational program that Creuza de Mà carries out in collaboration with the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Rome: a special Higher Education project promoted by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia with the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation, open to students of the CSC Directing, Editing and Sound courses and to students of the Master's Degree course in Multimedia Production Sciences of the University of Cagliari.
A masterclass - which can always be followed through the festival's facebook page - also opens at 10.30 on Sunday 6: the theme, in this case, will be the soundtrack of archival films. In conversation with the directors Cecilia Pagliarani and Gianfranco Cabiddu, and moderated by Riccardo Giagni, the pianist and composer Daniele Furlati will talk about the project for the restoration and sound reinforcement of the silent films of the Cineteca di Bologna L'Immagine rediscovered, and the musicians Paolo Fresu and Mauro Palmas, one of the protagonists of "Sonos' e Memoria", the famous cine-concert at the center of the projections scheduled from the afternoon. Conceived and directed by Gianfranco Cabiddu, the show - which premiered in 1995 - is based on a montage film with Sardinian repertoire images taken from old Istituto Luce documentaries, and set to live music by an assorted cast of musicians from extractions and different stylistic fields: Elena Ledda (voice), Luigi Lai (launeddas), Antonello Salis (accordion), Carlo Cabiddu (cello), Furio Di Castri (double bass), Federico Sanesi (percussion), the four voices of Cuncordu 'e su Rosariu di Santu Lussurgiu and, in fact, Mauro Palmas (mandola), with Paolo Fresu (trumpet and flugelhorn) at the musical direction.
The story of that experience, which over the years has become a "classic" with many replicas, is linked to the Sunday screening of "Passaggi di tempo", the award-winning documentary by Gianfranco Cabiddu which, ten years after its debut, retraces the artistic and human adventure of "Sonos' e Memoria": a "film about film", a mix of fiction, music and documentary, a journey into the genesis of the show, in its "behind the scenes", in the intertwining of ties between its protagonists and between these and Sardinia.
Dedicated to the memory of Giovanni Ardu, the "bassu" of Cuncordu 'and su Rosariu of Santu Lussurgiu, recently
