Announcing ILLUMINATE Film Festival Retreat’s Film Line-up

ILLUMINATE Film Festival Retreat

Who are we? Why are we here? Where are we going? How are we connected? What power do we have over it all? These are questions the human race has been asking for eons. Are we at a point in our evolution to find the answers? Come take a journey of inquiry, discovery and empowerment with us at the ILLUMINATE Film Festival Retreat in the verdant redwood forests of northern California.

Set aside 4 days in early October to immerse yourself in inspirational films, meaningful ceremonies, thoughtful discussions, healthy eating and serene personal time. Explore the miles of hiking trails and experience healing in nature. Connect with like-minded souls, and let's dive deep into these questions.

At ILLUMINATE, we believe that the language of film is universal and a dynamic force in carrying messages to the masses, and to that end we strive to showcase the best of conscious media to uplift, inspire and transform - to raise awareness and human consciousness. To that end, we've designed this powerful program for you at the Retreat:

Announcing Special Guest
Bruce H. Lipton, PhD

Dr. Bruce Lipton is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. He is an American developmental biologist best known for promoting the idea that genes and DNA can be manipulated by a person's beliefs. Join us after the screening of HEAL for an intimate discussion of health, the power of the mind, and how to create a more vibrant life.

Spotlight Film
Featuring Q&A with Dr. Bruce Lipton
HEAL  follows three people on actual high-stakes healing journeys to find out what works and why. We are taken on a scientific and spiritual journey by Dr. Michael Beckwith, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Joseph Dispenza, Deepak Chopra, Anita Moorjani, Dr. Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden and several others. Discover how changing one’s perceptions can help the body heal itself from any disease. Workshop to follow.

HEAL

Kalachakra: The Enlightenment  — Immersed in the colorful and vibrant setting of Dharamsala (India), a woman grieving the loss of her sister and 3 individuals from very different backgrounds come together to face their deepest fears as they approach the transformational power of the Kalachakra initiation, led by the Dalai Lama and followed by millions. Workshop to follow.

Kalachakra

City of Joy  — What would it be like to live in a place often referred to as the “the worst place in the world to be a woman”? This film follows the first class of students at a remarkable leadership center in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. In this ultimately uplifting film, we witness tremendous resilience as these women transform their devastation into powerful forms of leadership. The film features Eve Ensler of The Vagina Monologues who helped build the City of Joy. Workshop to follow.

City of Joy

SuperSapiens  — As artificial intelligence rapidly blurs the boundaries between man and machine, we face an astonishing question: are we witnessing the rise of a new human species? On this wild ride to the frontier of science, discover the new and fascinating ways technology is co-creating a new collective consciousness.

SuperSapiens

RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World   —  This is the story of a profound, and until now, missing chapter in the history of American music: the Native American influence. This deeply insightful film reveals how some of our most treasured artists — Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and others — found their inspiration in ancient, sacred melodies and infused them with a desire to rise. Workshop to follow.

Rumble

Entanglement  —   We are all connected. Jason James’ new film Entanglement explores the web of connections weaved over a lifetime lived. Ben Layten (Thomas Middleditch, star of Silicon Valley), after recovering from a botched suicide attempt, discovers that he almost had an adopted sister and attempts to bring Hanna (Jess Weixler) into his life. By invoking the phenomenon of quantum entanglement, or the idea that souls can mirror each other no matter the distance apart, this intelligently funny and poignant film asks us to trust the Universe and delight in the little ways that life is connected.

Entanglement

Short Films Program  — including "Holistic Life Foundation: Breathing Life Into A Community" where three guys return to their childhood neighborhood to revitalize the community and foster hope in the youth through yoga and mindfulness techniques. Also in "Today I Acknowledge" you'll be deeply touched when random strangers on the street are asked to pause from their busy lives and acknowledge each other with sincerity. More short films to be announced!

Holistic Life Foundation

In addition to the film line-up:

  • Deepen your sacred journey with expert practitioners, healers, speakers, musicians and new thought leaders in our Reel Healing series, post-screening "View and Do" events that allow you to deeply integrate a movie's message into your life.
  • Connect with trailblazing filmmakers in the emerging genre of conscious cinema and discover new perspectives that will inspire and inform your path.
