DOK.fest München announcing New award: DOK.edit Award / Call for Accreditation / Preview DOK.forum Industry

After film music and production, another central aspect of documentary filmmaking will be in focus from 2021: the new DOK.edit Award – presented by Adobe honours editors of documentary films. We are pleased to present the three nominated films.

In addition, we are opening our accreditation for the DOK.fest film programme and give a first preview of the public industry programme of the DOK.forum Perspectives.

New award: DOK.edit Award – presented by Adobe

A film is made at the editing table. Even though the work processes are now digitalised, editing remains one of the most central and critical phases in the making of any documentary film.

To highlight the importance of editing in documentary film, DOK.forum München, the industry platform of DOK.fest München, is awarding an editing prize for the first time: the "DOK.edit Award – presented by Adobe" honours outstanding editing achievements with prize money of 5,000 euros. It is part of the new programme focus "Re:arranging Reality", which revolves around the post-production of documentary films. The programme focus is being developed in cooperation with Adobe.

A three-member international jury will discuss the films in public sessions. The editors of the nominated films will also provide insights into their work. Interested viewers can register for the free events. The winner will be announced at an online award ceremony on 13 May.

We are pleased to present the three films from the DOK.fest München 2021 @home programme that have been nominated for the "DOK.edit Award – presented by Adobe".

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SURVIVAL (Editing: Agata Wozniak, Director: Yana Ugrekhelidze)
Sacha is threatened with persecution and death as transgender in Georgia. His partner Mari enters into a surrogacy arrangement to earn money for an escape to Western Europe – a problematic plan.

NEMESIS (Editing: David Charap and Thomas Imbach, Director: Thomas Imbach)
In the staccato of demolition machines, NEMESIS reconstructs the "deconstruction" of a Zurich freight station into a prison and police centre. A swan song to the way we deal with history and the illusion of total security.

PRESIDENT (Editing: Jeppe Bødskov, Director: Camilla Nielsen)
After 37 years under Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's people are finally demanding one thing: change. The young opposition leader becomes a beacon of hope. But the system of corruption and electoral fraud is deeply rooted.

Call for Accreditation

Industry representatives now have the opportunity to apply for accreditation for the DOK.fest Munich programme as well as for the public industry programme of DOK.forum Perspektiven.

Preview DOK.forum Perspectives

With the Professionals accreditation you have access to numerous public industry events, the DOK.forum Perspectives. In 2021 we can again offer you access free of charge.

This year, for the first time, we are presenting the programme series Re:arranging Reality, which is dedicated to post-production in documentary film. You can follow current debates on the future of the industry in the focus on Media Policy. With the New Media section, we present innovative projects that make use of the technical possibilities of new media. And to round off the programme, we offer individual consultations on festival strategies, international co-production or legal issues for filmmakers.
