Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Lucien-Barrière Literary Prize in 2010, BLONDE boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood's most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, BLONDE blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves. Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, the film boasts a cast led by Ana de Armas and featuring Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.

The film will be presented in French premiere with director Andrew Dominik and actress Ana de Armas in attendance.

The Hollywood Rising-Star Award was inaugurated in 2011 by the Deauville American Film Festival to commend the talent, passion, and involvement of actors and actresses starting on the path to creation. These emerging performers are the faces of tomorrow's cinema. In our past editions, Ryan Gosling (2011), Jessica Chastain (2011), Paul Dano (2012), Robert Pattinson (2015), Elizabeth Olsen (2015), Chloé Grace Moretz (2016), Daniel Radcliffe (2016), Shailene Woodley (2018), Elle Fanning (2018), Sophie Turner (2019) and Dylan Penn (2021) received this award.

For more than a decade Cuban born actress Ana de Armas has made a name for herself in Spain and America and is now becoming one of the industry’s most sought-after actresses. Working with critically acclaimed directors such as Eli Roth (KNOCK NOCK), Todd Phillips (WAR DOGS), Denis Villeneuve (BLADE RUNNER 2049), Rian Johnson (KNIVES OUT), Olivier Assayas (WASP NETWORK), Cary Joji Fukunaga (NO TIME TO DIE), the Russo Brothers (THE GRAY MAN), de Armas has brought to the big screen compelling performances with warmth, passion, and versatility.

The Deauville American Film Festival is pleased to announce the attendance of Ana de Armas. On this special occasion, the festival will celebrate her by giving her an Hollywood Rising-Star Award.
