TriCoast Worldwide has scooped up worldwide rights to Yvan Le Moine's Rosenn, starring Rupert Everett
TriCoast Worldwide Enjoys Most Successful Cannes To Date; Acquires Chelsea Festival Winner ‘Rosenn,’ and Tribeca Favorite ‘Shadow World,” Gripping Doc about Global Arms Trade.
TriCoast Worldwide has scooped up worldwide rights to Yvan Le Moine's Rosenn, starring Rupert Everett and up-and-coming Belgium actress Hande Kodja. Le Moine's first feature, The Red Dwarf, was officially selected in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. Rosenn is a Thomas Hardy-esque romantic period drama based on the best selling turn of the century novel of the same name, written by Jean De Kerlecq. Rosenn (Kodja) is an ingénue in the prime of her life who falls in love with Lewis Lafoly (Everett), an English writer in his fifties. Lafoly wears a mask of seduction while hiding his deceptive intentions. Lafoly falls in love with Rosenn, but ultimately his true colors come to light when he leaves her, alone and pregnant. Rosenn is co-produced by Artisan films, Amedeo Pagani and Igor Sekulic. Strath Hamilton of Tricoast Worldwide met director Le Moine in Cannes last year, and has been monitoring the film's debut on the US festival circuit where it closed the Chelsea International Film Festival. Strath Hamilton, CEO TriCoast Worldwide calls Rosenn “A beautifully photographed emotional roller coaster. If Thomas Hardy wrote in the tropics, he would be hard pressed to top Rosenn” says. “We’re delighted that Rosenn is getting her wings at TriCoast to go out into the world,” added LeMoine. Rosenn was nominated for the Belgian’s Magritte Award, and features Beatrice Dalle and Michael Lonsdale. The film will be released theatrically in France on June 22, with TriCoast releasing in 2017.
From executive producer Danny Glover and Wide Management, TriCoast has also acquired the documentary Shadow World. The film, based on the best selling book by Andrew Feinstein, “The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade,” received stellar reviews at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Feinstein, executive director of Corruption Watch UK, worked closely with director Johan Grimonprez (dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y) over the past three years to bring the film to fruition. Shadow World is a stunning expose on the international arms trade, the only business that counts its wins and losses in human lives. The film unravels a number of the world’s largest and most corrupt arms deals through those involved in perpetrating and investigating them – including the US & UK governments. “We are responding to millennials’ renewed enthusiasm in documentaries. In our most political year, this is an explosive exposé on government involvement in the arms sale business” offers Daisy Hamilton, VP Acquisitions TriCoast Worldwide. TriCoast will release Shadow World theatrically in Q4 2016 to qualify for Academy Award consideration.
With an established 25 year history at Cannes, TriCoast is having their most successful sales year at the Marché du Film. According to Co-CEO Marcy Hamilton, TriCoast Worldwide “…will do well over a million dollars in sales during the market.”
