The Cannes Film Festival is back next week for nine days of networking and to bear witness to an international roster of awe inspiring talent. It will be a hive of activity and The Location Guide will be there with its own stand at the Marché du Film for the first time!

From pyjama parties to glitzy red carpets, no two days at the Cannes Film Festival are the same. As the festival commences, attendees will disperse towards their exclusive invite only events, bumping elbows with the crème de la crème of the screen sector. Early morning talks such as the Saudi Film Commission Conference on 17 May, and the BFI’s panel on celebrating black women in international film on 20 May, get the ball rolling for a jam packed nine days that will require a constant check of where to head off to next. The Marché du Film will be swarming with eager ears listening in to the key insights into the global screen industry as continents cluster together to share and collaborate.

In the spirit of collaboration, Spot the Composer announced yesterday the composers selected to come to Cannes. The chosen sound and music professionals are given the opportunity to meet with directors and producers looking for original music for their projects. The project, which first launched in 2020 will return on 19 May with meetings continuing from the 20-21 May. The Marché du Film’s host of programmes give industry talents the opportunities to intermingle with one another as they embark on their creative journeys. From pre-production to post-production and everything in between, the programmes are the chance to meet the people who will help make it happen.

Whilst a global roster of filmmakers take to the stage following much anticipation leading up to their display, Cannes is much more than the carefully curated projects both in and out of competition. Looking to the future and catering to those who will be taking the baton in the world of film, the prestigious film festival is full of crucial learning opportunities for what is in store for the industry ahead. One of which is the European Film Forum, this year, taking a look at the vision for the continent’s audiovisual and media industries. 3 days in Cannes returns once again following its successful debut in 2018. Giving 18-28 year old film lovers the opportunity to attend screening of the films on show at the festival, the next generation of creatives are immersed in the celebration, absorbing the energy of the festival.
