Eye on German Cannes pre sales

Constantin Film, one of Germany’s leading independents, has licensed all German speaking rights to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, in a Cannes presale deal from Nu Image, Inc.

John Luessenhop is directing Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. Production is slated to begin in June.  The film is a joint Nu Image, Inc./Millennium Films and Lionsgate production, with Nu Image selling international rights and Lionsgate distributing in the U.S.

Carl Mazzocone is producing the film, which hopes to launch a new franchise featuring Leatherface and his family of cannibals. Mazzocone was production president of horror house Twisted Pictures before becoming an independent producer; He pursued the rights to the property and came away with a deal to make up to six  movies.                                                         

TELEMUNCHEN GROUP BUYS THE BIG WEDDING

CANNES – Germany’s Télémünchen Group has bought the rights to The Big Wedding in a presale deal from Nu Image, Inc. at Festival De Cannes.

Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Seyfried have been cast in the comedy.  Justin Zackham, writer and producer of The Bucket List, will direct the all-star cast from a script he has penned. Producing will be Zackham’s Two Ton Films partner Clay Pecorin, as well as Richard Salvatore, Harry Ufland and Zackham. Executive producing will be Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short.

The Big Wedding is a co-production of Millennium Films and Two Ton Films. Production begins the middle of July in Greenwich, CT. 

Nu Image, Inc. titles available at 2011 Cannes include: The Expendables 2, The Big Wedding, The Paperboy, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, Medallion and Playing the Field.
