In her compelling documentary, Spitting Game: The College Hook Up Culture, writer/director, Denice Ann Evans exposes the realities, reasons, and risks students face within the college hook up culture. Hooking up, which is described as a drunken, no-strings attached sexual encounter, has become so commonplace that it has eclipsed traditional dating. Promiscuity has become the new popularity on campus and sex the next addiction issue. Epidemic numbers of students are “hooking up” with multiple, random, and often times, anonymous partners. Needless to say, the fall out from this behavior is affecting the mental, emotional, and physical well being of millions of students. Having drunken casual sex is no longer a collegiate rite of passage. It is a potential life sentence.
