louisblewarneThis film traces the movements of Iraqis Bodies, an award winning contemporary dance troupe from Baghdad during the preparation of their award-winning performance, ‘Crying of my Mother’. The absurd cruelty of the current situation in Iraq is expressed in the name, lives and performances of this contemporary dance troupe. This unique collection of artists was formed in 2001 and lived worked and performed in Baghdad. After the invasion of Iraq in 2003 diversity in thought and expression got harder. One of the members was shot and the troupe decided to leave Iraq. Three bodies in the absolute, three bodies empty with the energy to prove that the same body that is assaulted, repressed by its own culture, thrown in jail, chained and tortured, chucked on the street, covered with newspapers wet with blood, is the same body that forms fantastic visual stories recounting the multitude of human problems faced in modern Iraq. This film follows the rehearsals and performances of the troupe from Baghdad to their final place of exile Amsterdam. ![]() Dancing under CrossfireThis is a trailer for the documentary film 'Dancing Under Crossfire' by Hayder Helo. Filming in the Netherlands
The Crew of Dancing under Crossfire is heading the the Netherlands in Octobe to film the final scenes and probably the final performances of 'Crying of my Mother'.
If you are in Holland in October, check out the festival dates here http://www.dansclick.nl/index.php?id=96&c=DCL8, it is probably the last chance you get to see the performance before the worldwide release of our documentary (hopefully)
