“Mossadegh” is competing in the Student Film category for ÉCU 2012. Set in Iran in 1959, the film follows ex-Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh living under house arrest and suffering from a life-threatening condition. Mossadegh must decide whether or not to trust a brilliant American physician that is sent to treat him.  

Long Time Coming

“Eldorado” directed by Syed Albar is a new ÉCU 2012 submission competing in the European Dramatic Short category. Drowned in sorrow after the death of his wife, Morris (52) drifts back into his father's old barbershop one night, to reminisce. But his past comes charging back at him, and maybe this has all been a long time coming.  

Melt

“Melt” directed by Noemie Lafrance is a new ÉCU 2012 submission competing in the Non-European Dramatic short category. Perched on a wall and wrapped in sculptural beeswax and lanolin costumes that melt away, dancers progress in euphoria and exhaustion, melting until their souls escape their ephemeral bodies and disintegrate into light.  

Only Sound Remains

“Only Sound Remains” directed by Tanha Sedast ke mimanad and Arash Ashtiani is a new ÉCU 2012 submission competing in the European Dramatic short category. In the wake of the violent post-election protests in Iran, a family tries to hide the news of the death of their youngest member from their grandmother.  

Sabeel

“Sabeel” directed by Khalid Al-Mahmood is a new ÉCU 2012 submission competing in the Non-European Dramatic short category. A story of two young boys who are taking care of their sick grandmother. they spend their days growing and selling vegetables in order to buy medicine for their grandmother. Having the road as the main source of making a living, it is the road that will determine their destiny.

"Vermin", directed by Adi Gelbart, is an official selection of ÉCU 2012. When three creatures mysteriously appear on earth, the authorities observe them and try to make sense of their peculiar actions. At first the creatures harmlessly wander the fields. Diablo Valley Film Festival

The Diablo Valley FIlm Festival celebrates the independent spirit of cinema.   The festival offers a screening venue for upcoming and established filmmakers from around the globe.  The festival presents all genres of films including narrative features, shorts, music videos and documentaries with an emphasis on innovative storytelling, creative technical expertise and experimental approach.

 

Centered in historic downtown Martinez, California, DVFF is in its inaugural year and has discovered an enthusiastic audience for independent cinema in the surrounding community. 

 

Exhibiting filmmakers receive All-Access Passes which provide access to all films, parties, and workshops during the festival. Filmmakers are also encouraged to partake in post screening Q & A sessions with audiences to discuss production aspects, behind the scenes, and filmmaking processes.
