Golden Globe Awards

The 2014 Golden Globes Insider with Adrienne Papp

By Adrienne Papp True to their tradition, the 71st Golden Globe Awards, broadcast on Sunday evening from the Beverly Hilton, offered plenty of Hollywood glamour, some humorous and offbeat moments, and also provided a bellwether as to what the odds-on favorites  the Academy Awards might be. The Golden Globe broadcast garnered the show’s highest ratings in 10 years, being seen by 20.9 million total viewers, up 6% from last year according to Nielsen. Co-hosti...

Golden Globe Round Up 2011

In 2009 The Golden Globe ceremony didn't have a host. The actors/actresses just came out to present and announce the winner. I don't remember what they did for an opening, but a joke monologue isn't the only way to open the show with energy. I don't want to be a Pollyanna or someone who only accepts niceties and tact, but I felt some of host Ricky Gervais', blunt, roast type humor may have been unnecessary.    Jeremy Renner in THE HURT LOCKER It happens every year.....key performances, outstanding films and worthy indies and international titles that seem primed for awards consideration are inexplicably ignored. The George Clooney-starrer has already been named Best Picture of the Year by several critics groups and has now posted the biggest nomination record for this year's Golden Globe Awards (will Oscar gold be far behind????). UP IN THE AIR has scored six 2009 Golden G...

It's War At The Golden Globes

Friday, January 11---------That old adage, about war being hell, is just an understatement for the conflict that is now brewing around this Sunday's Golden Globe Awards. Not only has the broadcast of the live event been cancelled (since film stars and directors, also members of their own guilds, will not cross WGA picket lines), but a battle royale is now brewing between NBC, the television network set to broadcast the event, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Globes' sponsor, and Di...
