David (Ted Taylor) comes to Japan for one week to study traditional legends. He is supposed to meet Professor Ozawa, a leading expert in the field. But when he arrives, he gets picked up by Ozawa's two female assistants, Sanae (Mimori Sento) and Manami (Sakiko Ikegami). They bring him to a traditional guest-house and accompany him during his stay.
A strange man in the bath house (Kan Mikami) tells David about the local Tengu legend. Tengu are a class of well known monster-spirits with a long nose and a red face who live in the Japanese forests and mountains. David is immediately fascinated. But the more he finds out about the Tengu, the more he is drawn into his own past-life.
As a matter of fact some Tengu legends can be connected to shipwrecked foreigners who were forced to live in hiding in the Japanese mountains during Japan's Sakoku (closed country) era (1637 - 1853). Ultimately, "Tengu" is the story of a Westerner who becomes the origin of a famous Japanese legend.

A vastly different, oblique take on the man-walks-into-a-bar story. Gus Lorenz is known to some as a trade expert. He embarks on a journey to find himself and to locate what is missing from his life. The answer seems
to lie in bowels of an old speakeasy. It is here that he engages in trade. A train ticket provides his sole means of
travel. This troubled man's travel is not along rail lines, but rather across neural synapses.
The real trade expert may be at arm's length or locked inside his subconscious being.
If Gus Lorenz is the man that the girl of his dreams says he is, then perhaps the only thing he has lost
is his true identity.
This short science fiction film was shot on location in San Francisco, California as part of the 48-Hour Film Festival.

Within the Water Lies Death...and Life
We are all made of water, it brings us life. It can also bring death. Every so often, someone dies in the ocean, rivers, lakes…and sometimes, they return. They appear to those who knew them, only for a short time, then disappear again. They do not speak, they observe. No one knows why they return, whether it is to feel, to see, to experience, to live again, or whether they just became a part of the greater living entity, the water itself. All we know is that these events have been occurring for a long time.
